hey man, all I can give you is my opinion (so if it sounds sometimes harsh remember that its just my opinion)
First of all the lead sinth has too much volume, the sounds at the intro are very nice, the 1:33 part of the song is very nice, but as I said it takes too much space and doesn't let the rest of the fx etc. breath, after hearing the intro again, the lead sounds kind of out of place, in the feeling of the intro (maybe some reverb and other fx to make it fit) to me the intro and the whole of the baground you have made is very trippy until you introduce the lead once you kill the starting lead at 1:07 the track starts to be trippy again. Overall I like it exept the part I mentioned in introducing the lead, hope to hear it complete man.. keep on the work |

Hey man, thanks very much for the feedback, it was very helpful.
That transition into the lead has been a bitch . .
Thank you again

Your intro was really great, I enjoyed it. The compression was hard, but not quite too hard. I liked it. There are some key signature interchanges a little after a minute that startled me. Unhappy chord resulting from a background synth at 58 secs. When you try to blend those instruments.. try taking 8 or so bars of each, fading one in, one out. Pile them up and get the levels adequate before you compress "the " out of them, using a dynamic lowpass Eq. Just sweep it around untill it sounds right, but be gentle, you dont want to spike a bunch of weird unfamiliar frequencies and throw off the entire flow. It's not aurally spacial enough either. Try doing some 2ch (R/L) Delays. Highpass.. 2-4Khz .. like 3 ticks L, 5 Ticks R (depending on your dominant side.. I like to hang things left when theres a need for it, but you don't notice a heavyness if you give the longer delay side a softer higher cutoff). Underneath the delay you might even want to gently pan your lead, which will be balanced by the delay, so no worries about swirly. The mastering it cool but I'd definitely "punch and sparkle" it a little. and man.. You've really gotta verb that lead.. all of them. Eq the 303 arp so it sounds like a piece of sheet metal and delay that too. Dont amplify your delays too much because you don't want to flood it. It's completely up to you but I'd feel more comfortable with a hat on the &'s. you could throw it in later in the track for a stable feeling.
Anyway, I hope I could be of help to you. You're well on your way!
Take care
-Eric
Edit: Sorry, it's late.. maybe tomorrow I'll rewrite this post so it makes more sense. |

Oh.. Yeah he might be.
If you used L'Vistasionne I might suggest detuning and a little pwm on all of your osc's. Make it wail. |

i didn't read the other replies, but it sounds like when you bring in the main synth...its a little abrupt. it didn't really go good with what you had going there before...make it smoother... |

Only thing I'd add is that it doesn't really sound like it kicks back off again after the breakdown - seems to be building but not getting "it's groove on" so to speak.

Here are a couple new samples from the new lead that I am now using. I think this adds a little more atmosphere to the song. I am also redoing the drums, going for more of a PVD or Marco V feel.
I am thinking of running a deep bass underneath it, along with a string pad, something Rob Dougan-ish.

Once I sequence this tomorrow with a new beat and the strings and bass, I will post it for further feedback.
Thank you all so much for your help! |

Reading the review you wrote Seric and a couple of things you suggest sound interesting but wanted to get clear on a couple of points:

What do you mean dynamic - as in changing the settings on it while the tune is running or just that you can adjust it before you render - what did you mean by this dude? How are you relating this to the compression?

Are you saying he should group his synths and hi-pass the result and put a delay on that?
EDIT: I'll check your lead sounds out enferno when I get home tonight matey.
