it's not a problem on Microsoft's end. All the computers infected on the internet with the virus are attacking their servers causing them to become unavailable

Microsoft issued an Alert about the virus a week or so ago

Plus it has been discussed on many computer related message boards I go to. Yes I'm a nerd :)
