i did way too much at the weekend.. got up on monday morning with a sore throat & stuffed up head..

i would imagine that takin pills is pretty strenuous on ur body..

anyone have any opinions / facts / similar experiences??

Scientific research conclusively documents that illicit drug use, including heroin, cocaine, amphetamines and marijuana, weakens and suppresses the immune system, impairs human judgment regarding safe sexual behavior, and facilitates sexually transmitted diseases

A healthy immune system serves as the body's first line of defense for disease. Scientific research demonstrates that drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, and heroin suppress and damage one or more of the body's immune systems. A weakened immune system increases the odds of a variety of "opportunistic" infections i.e., those that occur because they have taken advantage of an opportunity which would not exist with a normal immune system.

If you wanna know how i can elaborate

Here's some science about the stress drugs put on your system
I cant be arsed to explain it though really:

Stress can be of many types. The most common are physical (accidents, strained muscles, spinal problems), emotional (fear, anxiety, depression), and chemical (drugs, pollution, food additives).

Negative stress has both direct and indirect effects on the immune system. These effects are cumulative and can be compounding. The effects are usually moderated through hormones and interleukins.

Recent research has shown that stress will directly impact the immune system in a negative way. Interleukins are regulatory molecules which help orchestrate the immune response. Initial response to an infection is an increase in Il-2 with a great cellular attack against the invader. Il-2 is required for helper cell proliferation. A great number of receptors for Il-2 appear on lymphocytes allowing for this greatly increased response. According to Dr. Jonas Salk, as long as Il-2 levels are high, the cellular attack phase will continue and the person is at their most viral resistant phase. Negative stress has been shown to decrease Il-2 production and also decrease the number of Il-2 receptors on lymphocytes. Other direct effects include decreased interferons, decreased natural killer cell activity, and lower T-cell mitogenesis.

Indirectly, stress causes the release of ACTH from the pituitary gland in the brain which signals the adrenal glands to release anti-inflammatory hormones. These hormones will repress the lymph nodes and thymus and inhibit immune cell functions. Another pituitary hormone released, TTH, causes the thyroid gland to become overactive resulting in weight loss, nervousness, an increased demand for vitamins and minerals, and a protein deficit.

i think it's probably not good for ANY part of the body when you put illegal substances in it that have been banned by the FDA for whatever reason...

i agree...that is the one illegal drug i would recommend to someone with a cold who has lost their appetite...afterall, it's prescribed for cancer patients so they won't feel nausiated all the time and can eat.

although if you have a sinus infection/head cold, i don't know if it's a good idea. i am very prone to sinus infections and get them all the time. i had a pretty bad one recently and i smoked a little to get my appetite going, but it made me almost pass out. my head was so congested, i think the pot smoke just made it worse...

i heard smoking 1 joint takes away approx 500Mgs of Vitamin C from your body. Something I researched in debate class a couple years back.

Vitamin C reserves can't go into the negative, can they? :disbelief

I've never really noticed a big change in overall health after a healthy binge, other than the general sketch of things.
