Introduction to Buzz

Hey!

I donīt want to produce big things, i just want to try to make some chill-out versions from well-known trancesongs. I understand the main things of harmonic and have got some musical backgrounds, but my technical knowledge is very small. I started with Buzz, because i got no money for better software ;)

My main problem is, that i canīt find decent generators... i mean, there are so many, i just see which is good, which is not. So many generators, so many options... . I tried some and listend to the demo songs to find out which generators work best but there still hundreds. My question is if anybody has some good advices which Synths to use in Buzz and how to make them sound "good".... :)

thanks if anyone has got some tips ;)

What kinda sounds are you after? The voidsynth is decent, as is the infector. Personally I use neither of them anymore as they require a lot of external processing to sound good enough for a pro-quality tune.

I'd recommend downloading the RGC Triangle II and Synth1 free VST instruments and playing with those via the Polac VST loader.

iīm looking for some choir, orchestral strings, piano and some drums like in the breakdown of "tranceformation" by Push. All the stuff needed for ambient tracks...

thanks for ya help, i will check that out, tried the infector and it was decent, but u are right... "professional" sounds needs much more work than i want to do ;)

Well the Rout 808 and 909 are pretty good for drums, but what you really want is quality samples to bring in via the Matilde Tracker for beats.

For choir and orchestral strings I don't think you'll get too much luck with generic buzz generators. Orchestral strings in general are very poorly done with anything other than samples, unless you're using high quality hardware synths or an expensive VST like the Spectrasonics Atmosphere. With Piano there is simply no substitute for the real thing, so go get the demo of IK Media Sampletank which I believe comes default with a pretty good Piano, and actually even a choir sampleset I believe but I found it to be pretty weak.

You'll find that you're not gonna get pro quality sounds with only free tools unless you're a serious audio guru. To be honest the generators in Buzz are pretty much as good as most VSTs out there with enough tweaking and proper use of effects.

Some people named "EVM" made a great free choir synth. Google the company, I'm not sure if they still let you get the choir synth. If you have aim or email i could send it to you.

For pianos, if you can't find a good sample or soundfont, the MDA piano and 4front piano are both good enough to use, though not the quality of good samples.

Hey Cowski, I tried Google and didn't find the choir synth. Can I get it from you? PM me and I'll give you my email...

thanks
