ok so i noticed the other day that the my pitch slider doesnt match up with the strobe dots on my platter. the dots for the +3.3% stand still when my pitch is at +3.6% - 3.7% on one table, and almost at +4% on the other. is this common? can this be fixed, or do i need new pitch sliders. I have tech 1200 M3ds and they are only about 8-9 months old.
thanks-

I wouldn't be too worried about that. On my mk5's, the pitch is at +4% where it should be at +3.3% and is at +7% where it should be at +6.4%. You'll just get used.
Besides, i think most TT's you'll encounter when playing out will have the pitch in worst condition. |

Yes, it's fairly simple to calibrate your pitch control. First unscrew the bottom, and remove the base. With the table upside-down [place it on a pillow or something to keep the tonearm safe] look at the pitch control circuit board. There should be a small hole with a rotary potentiometer beneath it.
If you dont have a multimeter, the easiest way to calibrate is to turn the pot a quarter turn in one direction with a screwdriver, replace the bottom [dont worry with screws yet] turn it over and check the dots. This should give you a better idea of the exact amount and direction of adjustment needed.
Here is a link that goes into detail and also gives how-to's on other turntable maintenance topics.

I hope this helps. |
