"Chable & Bonnici - Ride" stolen!!!

A dance track - "RIDE" by Chable and Bonnici - has been making a splash, and now features on the Ministry of Sound's "Clubbers Guide 2004" (disk 2, track 20). The special thing about this track is that it's based on Martin Galway's "Game Over": as a quick listen to the bassline will tell you. This was due to an agreement between us and the publishers of this tune to use Martin's bassline.

A quick glance at the page will reveal one of the artists claiming credit for the bassline: although the bassline is a modified version of the Game Over tune, it's still Game Over. So we're a little peeved at the record label for that, especially since they didn't bother to pass the Galway credit onto the Ministry of Sound: so he's not mentioned in the booklet. It's stuff like that which really p*sses you off about the music industry.

Pretty sure there was no intent, besides how many bassline's follow a the same key pattern.

so what..? :)

Ya not too suprising I guess. In this industry I would only care if they copied the melody (and that happens all the time too, sometimes with permission (PvD-Nothing But You) and sometimes not (Push-Strange World)).

in Holland we call that:

Beter goed gejat, dan slecht verzonnen :)

(means: better good but stolen then selfmade bull :))

The way I take that article is that Chable got permission from Martin's publishers to use the bassline and Chable's label didn't give Martin credit. So technically Chable didn't steal it.

I think the article is horribly written, it doesn't state who is said what or anything. Thumbs down to the writer.

i'd say it was very appropriately used.

Can anyone post a sample clip of this Martin Galway - Game Over track, I gota hear this if the basslines are simular. :)

Is this all about the bassline? It does not sound so advanced to me.
