Do any of you know anything about fixing up cars? I've got a '97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T and am thinking of putting exhaust, rims, and suspension to lower the car........ but i have no idea on what are good brands, stuff like that...... any suggestions?

oh yea... i want an exhaust that's low pitched and deep rumbling..... not those high-pitched exhausts you find on Civics...

thanks

err...sell the car & spend ur money on one of these beauties :):):)

...hehehe!!! (j/k'ing buddy...i dunno, but if u're doing up a car, just get stuff that looks good...unless u wanna race it - then u worry about how well it performs :D:D:D)

On that specific car,
for exhaust, if it has dual exhaust you should go with a combination of one cherry bomb on each spout and one Fulmaster on each end of the cherry bombs. The Fulmasters will add about 50 hp to your car and they also add some rumbling. Now with the combined Cherry Bombs they just add a really low rumbling. And if you are luck it goes so low that the car backfires constantly when you slow down. It gives you the illusion of a lot of power. But it will only backfire if you have a 305 or bigger in the desired car. My friend has just Fullmasters on his dual exhaust and you can't stand close (like 10 feet) if you don't want your ears to ring. But he has that on a 67 chevy pickup with a 350 borred to the max.

I don't know much about suspension so your on your own.

As for the engine If it is a 4 cilindar than keep it. Just add a good supercharger and mabey a turbocharger, I don't know if they make tc's for an eclipse. Mabey new manifolds. It all depends on how much you want to spend. I am in the prosses of supin up my car, (1996 Honda Civic) and I have about 12 grand under the hood. Anyways I hope I could help. Peace.

I accidentally crashed the side of MC Hammer's car. I told him I was sorry but he got really upset. I haven't seen or heard from him since.

I like the 3000 GT, but you have to get the VRT twin turbo. :whip: The other models except that one is junk, just too much weight and too little power. The power plant wastes to much with all its computer controls. I wanted one before I got my Eclipse, and researched alot, just couldn't fork out $23,000 (used!)

OK, Cheesy :). You want engine performance then start with
exhuast - HKS and Tanabe are probably the best, in my opinion. You can get Apex-i which my friend uses. Exhaust is kinda your starting before you touch you engine. Even Buschur, which is more towards racing. whoa!
turbo - you like I had, a stock 14 psi turbo. This is perfect unless you decise to race then you are looking at T3s (one stage, and about $2500), or if you are suicidal:) T4-6 (two-stage, and about the price of your car $3000-$8000) Stick with your turbo and change your intercooler pipe. Factory ones are very restrictive. (here's a little secret too. There is a restrictor plug IN your pipe right now. you can get a mechanic to remove it, which is about another 2 psi of boost :)) Changing this gives you better air flow into the manifold and headers, which reduces turbo lag and increase horsepower. This is about another 10-20 hp. I bought the Buschur Racing Pipe and Turbo Outlet Elbow.
Engine - This is too much to list. The first thing to change is a header. Greedy makes a geat new system. I just try to stay with the same company through-out, since they are made to work with each other. You can added a mechanical boost controller, which allows you to make you run at it full boost power (out of the factory they only use 11 psi).

I'm to tired to list show stuff (exterior). Good luck and PM me if you have any questions :). Everything I listed is pretty basic mechanic stuff. I use Buschur right now. When I have more money I'm upgrading to HKS or Greedy. Night

Hey man, if you read my post you'd would read that nowhere in it did I say an exhuast will give you 50 hp. It's comments like this that makes this board annoying.:whip:

I know enough about cars to to know better. I don't touch exhuast except for show. I understand that you are new so please do come here and start a flame for no reason. At least bring some proof that an exhuast doesn't give you that kind of hp. Which if you head into the racing circuit, you would know that the exhuast STYSTEM alone gives around +50hp.
