aw, let's just translate the paragraph into what is REALLY being said:
I'm jealous of DJs who have made names for themselves. I don't have fun at dance clubs since I don't know most of the music the DJ is spinning because it's not on popular radio. I don't like trance clubs because I don't identify with that scene or the music and feel out of place if I go to one. I just want to feel comfortable, party with my friends, and hopefully I'll get to talk to someone at a club other than the people who came with me.

Very well said.
I dunno what to think about this article, I suppose everyone has there own opinion.
I say he's wrong though. |

well...my reply is half what I think, half me just being bitchy ;)
I can only hope that he went over the top on purpose to promote that type of party and doesn't really think that way...but I doubt it :D
Personally, and I think I speak for virtually anyone else here, I go to trance nights because I love the music, as does anyone else I know that goes. So I guess there's no point in taking offense to ignorant remarks made by someone that clearly doesn't feel the same way...Maybe people that would agree with his paragraph should stick to going to clubs/events they *like*, instead of where they think it's trendy to show up ;) |

This guy is on crack trying to compare Trance with slow dancing???
wtf :wtf:
Why doesn't he just compare apples and oranges.
A far stretch and not even a good analogy considering any neomort can see right through it... |

This is just what I've heard from a good friend, so unless you saw him at Aria in Montreal and can state otherwise, I do not detract my statement |

this sounds like a good thread in the making?
what is more like trance?
the orange - soft, juicy, fills your mouth, and you can make nice jiuce outa it, but then there's always that damn layer to take off!
the apple - hard, juicy, come in diff colours, has been cross bred with pear:), and there no outer layer to get through
ummmm......... what was I getting at again?:D |

ive seen him about 20 times now. including a few times when he worked on 4 decks. so stop posting complete BS. oakenfold might not be trendy these days, but hes still a legend and a talented dj so have some respect instead of posting things that you "heard"
Besides your statement was general, and you didn't mention it about only being that one time at Aria. |

i think you guys are all forgeting, WE ARE THE MINORITY
most ppl at clubs arent TA's ( not literally a "ta" on the site, but a lover of the music)
they go to have fun, a good time, and dance regardless of whats being spun, they dont give a about hte track names etc.... most of them hardly know any of the song names
WE are the elitests, when we cry about a dj spinning to many anthems etc... a song is overplayed etc.... you know why its overplayed? because you go to the club every ing weekend and of course your oging to hear the same songs!!!!
take a break from clubbing, go every so often instead of to every good event you hear of and you will apreciate those anthems a hell of a lot more. |

trancers are not elitist. Within the realm of EDM, ppl who like trance and other forms of music that are not considered 'cool' are usually the least elitist. EDM that is older and usually appeals to older ppl are more likely to be elitist (house/techno) and I personally (maybe i'm biased b/c i love techno and house)haven't even found much snobery at clubs during house and techno events. I actually think the whole EDM scene is so much more welcoming thanb any other I have come across/been apart of. Ppl in any music scene will get sick of the same songs, if there weren't true fans, who got sick of tunes, then producers wouldn't need to make new ones. |

speak for yourself ;) I never complain about anthems, overplayed songs, etc. Say what you will but ATRC sounded pretty sweet when it was dropped at UltraSpin, even if it was the 50th time you heard it out :D
I just think that anyone who suggests that DJs are elitist and trying to impress us with their record collections full of stuff we don't even know...well...that person is clearly ignorant. PLENTY of people know that stuff and PLENTY of people know that the DJ is there to
a) make everyone go crazy and dance
b) have fun spinning
c) make some cash
though not necessarily in that order for some DJs, I'm sure :D |
