I think 40gigs is bull. Windows 2000 is not even that complicated a system compared to some others (IBM DB2 comes to mind) and I know from a good source that DB2 is around 3 million lines of code.

news probably was talking bull again yes, on news.com/tweakers.net
there are statements posted from Dragos Ruiiu (who ever that might be :D) he says that 660 mb of a total of about 20gb (thats probably nt and 2000 together then) has leaked

Microsoft has previously shared some of its source code with some companies, U.S. government agencies, foreign governments and universities under tight restrictions that prevent such organizations from making it publicly available. cnn.com

this just makes me laugh, every 4 y/o could have told them that someone is gonna make it leak sooner or later

fools :wtf:

found some more

hahaha this is basicly saying that MS has shared parts of the source a couple of years ago with over 3000 organisations and goverment agencies worldwide.

i'm surpriced it took so long then

i'm wondering... could this be a dirty M$ trick into getting every single person to buy longhorn?

Lastly, I doubt this code will lead to any new security issues. It's very difficult to work on someone else's code, especially when large chunks are written in assembly.

especially M$ code which is full of profanity :D

Longhorn keeps getting pushed back. If it was a ploy they would have leaked this code in 3 years.....then we might be compeled to buy longhorna year or 2 later.

One reason windows is exploited more than linux is that it is more widely used. Why would you try to develope exploits of a softeware only a few people use? If we all started using linux then I am positive more exploits and bugs would come out.

it's because computer illiterate people are the ones who use windows and also are the ones who click on weird files and download viruses to their computers.

ha, let me tell ya something about what it takes to infer causation from correlation.

if x causes y, then y cannot cause x.

and if x causes y, then no third variable can cause x or y.

i just need to study that...its on my next test.
