Yeah, I got it from their site. And got rid of it soon after.
Firstly it didn't have an update option from 0.7 at all which means I would had had to install every single plugin AGAIN. Secondly the scrollbar that's supposed to be on the right was completely missing somehow.
Oh, and the new download system... total crap. I'll stick with 0.7. |

mm yeah no scroll too and the themes remove the back buttons most of the time.
perhaps it is good that there is no update! now i can just reuse firebird- |

The scroll bar isn't there because you're using themes designed for 0.7. If you get some updated themes, the scrollbar should be there.
And yeah, so far I'm liking it. The download manager is much improved imo. |

I have been using it for two days now at home and work and am very happy with the upgrade to 0.8 now. If you read the install directions you would know that you simply had to deactivate your extensions (in 0.7), run the installer (if you are using windows), do your first launch and reactivate your extensions, they're all there. When you run the installer, it just associates your already existing profile which contains your extensions and bookmarks, cookies ect. I use very few extensions but there are a few with 0.8 versions out already, like Magpie. If texturizer is too busy go HERE and you will find many extensions.

If the coders are so lazy that they can't even keep the programs backwards compatible then they can stuff their program for all I care.
Oh, and the download manager just plain sucks. I kept clicking "remove" and it kept resuming itself. |

haha :p
All I know is that I've had no issues with it, it probably isn't backwards compatible because it's technically still in BETA/isn't at full release yet. After 1.0 I would be pretty damn annoyed if it wasn't backwards compatible, but before then it's understandable. |

In either case, 0.7 works like a charm so why even bother updating... |

You have a point. Quite frankly I'm surprised that it's so good, considering the fact that it isn't even at 1.0 yet. I'll keep 0.8 because of the download manager, but otherwise 0.7 does the trick. |

| The reason it lost a lot of backwards compatibility is because they're kicking most of the legacy code from their earlier versions to make the program faster and more efficient. |
