i like what the song develops into, its a unique approach to the original which is what remixes are about.

i like the lead, could be either a bit stronger or a bit more mellow or something, sounds a bit trancey when this track overall sounds much more mellower.

highs fit with the lead, but they may be a bit strong, detracts from the power of the lead itself..

the one thing that really bugs me is the bassline. its really noticeable in the beginning but u kept it the whole track and its just not right. sorry mate. it gets better after the 6 min mark but by then u might have lost some listeners from earlier

this track has a lot of potential but needs some cleaning up.

thanks for you comments

I understand about the lead (I noticed its got too much delay and could be turned down), and the highs (just turn em down)

but i'm not sure about what to do with the bassline. should I take it out around the 1 min mark and maybe bring it back after the build? or not bring it back at all? is the note progression too busy? i'm a little lost here. :)

sorry about my comments, usually by now someone else with more technical knowledge and experience would have jumped in by now to help out. i haven't produced anything since i was 14 (like 9 years ago) with screamtracker on a dos box.

its hard to explain, but the difference and variation on every level seems to demand attention and its distracting. if u want something to jump out u give it a bump or variation to make it stand out, but your bass keeps sort of shifting (listen to the intro part again, sounds a bit odd to me and you push that throughout the track, its cool and all but it just doesnt sound smooth, its like it wants my attention which isn't typical of a bassline). same with the lead. like i said i dont have the exp. to back me here (although I'd like to start tinkering this summer) but its almost like your lead is rotating through octaves and notes ackwardly. not sure.

keep at it.

I have to agree, the bass is not very good at all, just ruins an other wise very nice remix, but as i'm not a top notch producer I can't easily recommend improvements, just the current bass is just annoying and ruin a very good remix imo, try to get a new bassline for it another suggestion, for the main melody maybe increase the sustain a wee bit, sounds to short and sharp imo

ok... i've update it with a different bassline

same filename, just replace the old one (PLEASE replace the old one :) )

commisad, don't appologize about the comments, they were very helpful and constructive.

ally, thanks for the tip about the lead, i'll try it out

let me know if its any better now! cheers

[edit: I screwed up the link when I updated, its fixed now]

k, well the bass is better, it might sound better with this kind of track if it wasn't so prominent (little bit loud still). By this I mean, something more ambient and long, rather than this short kick like bass.

The lead isn't all that great (sounds better at the 4-430 range though), but its weak.. the percussion and bass kick drown everything out. All I can hear is the bass kick thrumming and the high percussion.

Almost sounds like the whole track is just 4 layers too.. might need to fill some things out a bit, might make them move into the background a bit more rather than having to tweak the volume as much.

again, i have zilch in production exp. so i can't help much, sorry.

Pretty chill tune, percussions are pretty nice. Bassline is definitely the weakest element and really doesn't fit in the mix well at all. Don't have my headphones right now so can't give you any more details than that unfortunately =/

alright, i've been working on the bassline some more, filtered the percs back a little, taking into consideration the comments. I listened to a song I liked [max graham remix of 'sleep'], and tried to make it [the bassline] in similar style. hopefully this is better. thanks.

the bassline's are alot better, just now I find the main melody is way too quiet, it should stand out more
