| same as above. I only use the left ear for phones, and right ear for monitor. Sometimes if its really hard to hear, ill put the headphones on my right ear to hear the outgoing track. Split monitoring = the bomb |

technically and physically, its better to use your right ear (which connects to the left hand side of your brain), as the left side of the brain is your logical side. this means that you will find it easier to compare the one on cue to the one playing. the right hand side of your brain is the creative side, which means a simple 4/4 beat will be better recognised by your left (logical) side of the brain. it gets a bit confusing......

Interesting information, but i don't think it applies here.
When you are beatmatching, you are using both your ears, so it doesn't matter if you are using the left or right ear to check the cue track.
I'm a left earer, but i can also do it by the right, although it takes more time. |

I only use single ear monitoring, except that I switch from ear to ear every track... If the turntable on the right is the cued track then I have my headphones on my right ear, and on the left ear if the track on the left is cued. |
That’s exactly what I do, when I first started I had a real problem with using my other ear, but now I don’t really care! I’m perfectly comfortable with either, or.
Oh and tu_face, I always though the left side was supposed to be the creative side! :conf: |
