heehee, i like the way you guys think.

I am a web designer, and here's what i use:

for my personal sites, i use Flash (its really difficult, takes a lot of time, but makes the BEST pages)

for quick pages, like posting pics of a weekend get together, i'll use straight html or Dreamweaver

for business sites, i'll use Frontpage. And here's why: although built for morons, Frontpage is so friggin' easy and professional-looking, that most businesses love it. For every business or company that contracts me to build a site for them, I use Frontpage and they go nuts! The finished product looks like you are a pro, little do they know that you don't actually do ANYTHING. the templates that come with frontpage are worth a million bucks!

Granted, most webdesigners frown on this, but hey, its quick and easy, and it looks super professional, and it brings in the big bucks from clients.

But for myself, nothing less than flash (or dreamweaver with a little flash movie and javascript thrown in to boot).

But the real money right now is in building CGI programs (common gateway interface)... these are applications that run off of your web browser (really complicated, so i won't get into it....stuff like MySQL and shopping carts...) Ever see "cgi-bin" on your web-page address bar? well, thats what that is....

ABTsportsline: i agree as well, but even if the project was easy or not, my mouse pointer is never coming across FrontPage, i've just gotten used to Dreamweaver for too long. Fronpage = a joke

The best program for creating webpages and the most original is Ms Notepad.

Frontpage definitely if you're just starting out. Simple and checking out the code while you drag and drop stuff really helps you learn quicker than notepad (especially complex tables).

If you're really serious, working with JavaScript, DHTML or anything with a backend, go with homesite and write all the code yourself. Programs like FrontPage or Dreamweaver will only take you so far if you don't understand what all that code it's writing does.

i used many progs
so my choice is Macromedia Dreamweaver 4

Hello, I'd like to post my resume on this board, but I want to post it in html format. Do you think it'd be possible to enable it? Thanks!! :)

just wanted to say that my own website is gonna be up and running by monday, possibly by tuesday..its an all-Flash website...nowhere near 2advanced.com..heheh...but what the hell, its my first Flash project...i also know sum html, but the thing that makes me HATE it SO much is the headache of making ur site work with all versions of all browsers...i just couldn't imaging myself as a professional spending hours on stuff like that...thats what made me do it in Flash...

btw, i would like to have sum suggestions on what TRANCE track to play in the background...i do have a number of them in mind, but what the heck...im still open to any suggestions of good melodic stuff...

thanks a 2.345 trillion in advance!

peace

huh? remember that netscape navigator does NOT count any more as a browser you need to worry about. Nobody uses that crap :)

Making it work with most browser versions isn't hard at all. Most people these days have at LEAST 4.0 generation browsers... just lay off relying on the "ultra cool" DHTML scripts & you'll be fine.

maybe u're rite...but my own (little) experience was kindda bad...

like for instance using table groupings and stuff...yeah i know how IE has already won the 'war' and stuff ...but what the hell, web-designing isn't gonna be my career anyway (taking comp.science and such)...its more like a hobby...and flash is fun and stuff...besides, i STINK at art...u'll see that my webpage is *extremely* simple when it comes to that...

peace

yep, notepad IS the best way to do it, and you learn stuff, unlike with html generating programs you get it the easy way. of course unles youve got to make a few dozen pages in a short period of time, then use whatever other programs ppl been talking about. i use notepad to make my pages and i know they dont look great, but at least i can say that i know some html, even if its just basic stuff
