i dunno, i dont think any of the trance remakes can touch the originals either

Wasn't Interactive's "Forever Young" remade into a hard trance track or something? The original had a happy hardcore(ish) feel to it.

wtf? 99% of all wannabe-trance-happyhardcore-remakes are cheesy as hell
flip 'n' fill - shooting star, wonderful days by charlie lownoise and mental theo OMG, cheese to the max :whip: :whip:

imo the only "good" happy hardcore-track is Bang! - Shooting Star, and flip 'n' fill should have never touched it

No, they remix nice crowd-friendly tracks to earn a load of cash when the damn thing gets to number 2 in the UK chart.

dont forget that (happy) hardcore is what started off in the uk... not trance... and so most ppl from back when rave first strted have these songs as happy memories... and to bring them back (though ya maybe you think it may be wrong) is also giving the new generantion of ravers a chance to hear these classics,,, and even if you hate happicore... you cant deny its place in electronic muzic history

Of course it is... that's a perfect example of good cheese: the music is solely made so you can have fun with it, it doesn't try to inflate producers' egos whatsoever.

What started off in the UK was acid house and rave, a la The Prodigy. If these artists were really doing it just to let new audiences here the music, they'd remix them, not cover them. I can't believe you're supporting talentless s who do it for the money.

Can't deny its place in history? The only offshoot of hardcore around today is hardstyle, which isn't the most reverred genre.

just cause you dont like it or have never listened or appreciated it... dont mean you have to be such a ass about it... ya maybe it is too cheezey for you or who ever... but i still have fond memories of being at a party and just being happy when the dj put on specific tracks... and those memories will never leave my heart...

You're kidding right? Without hhc, there would be no drum'n'bass/jungle (and subgenres), for example. But if you want to consider hardcore as a whole, nothing would've changed in Belgium and eventually, neither ebm (and all industrial genres closer to rave music) nor psy-trance would exist.

enough with the history-theory crafting will we?

It's analogous to saying if the "wheel" hadn't been invented when it was there wouldn't be cars today. It's completely possible, but given the elementary nature of the wheel (and likewise hardcore; faster and harder, who woulda thunk?), it's poses itself as rather unlikely.

Natural evolutionary choices do not constitute critical innovations to a movement. More/faster therefore does not constitute intelligent/innovative design.

conclusion: it probably would have happened anyway

On another not-so-fine point - sometimes a product is greater than its evolutionary predecessors or parts; this is especially true when its predecessors are of elementary nature. back to the vehicle example, you'd be hard pressed to find somebody impressed with a wheel back in the early 1800s (prior to the advent of automobiles).... Likewise, I'm lost as to what the majority of hardcore music is to be praised for?
