The hidden reason why techno music is a drone

This is not posted buy me but from Bruce Wayne at homerecording.com forums and he tells why Trance and the likes sux A few months ago at mp3.com, I did this big electronic music challenge, must've listened to a couple hundred techno songs to see if I could find some I liked. Actually I found some, not many, it was rather grueling I gotta say. Anyway, some of this stuff is so popular, especially in international markets, your so-called trance and rave music. Now, don't get me wrong, I suppose if you're flyin' on ecstasy in a jungle of colored lights, it could possibly hit the spot, but I found virtually every song in those subgenres in particular to be just soooo uncreative. Even when the chord structure was interesting and they had the actual semblance of a line of melody, the songs still left me cold. I had a couple like that on my harddrive and I listened to them again the other night just for the of it, and it occurred to me what the big problem was.
Those genres really desperately need a good ol' injection of swing in the rhythm. They need to find the swing option on their drum machine and adjust. Could this be why electronic as of now just can't touch rock or rhythm and blues ? Maybe ..

Mother ******!
it's just one thing wrong, and it's wrong with U! trance is 4 the gifted. U need to have a certain level of sensibility to realy understand trance. it's not in the cold judgement of the bass-line or the synth... but in the emotion the arangement, the WHOLE song inflicts into Ur brain.. and soul... and the NRG |

Respect. | Yea I respect his opinion but he sill doesn't know what he is talking about. Trance in my eyes is the most creative of all the dance music and also music as a hole, it works on a progression of getting to point X, point X being the climax of the song and theres not to many styles of music that operate like this. He talks about the good old rock, but that in my eyes was the begging of the cheese factor and also the modern format for many music styles of today that being repetitive. He says that you need to be on drugs to listen to it, but its strange that I have never taken any in my life and to me trance blows all other music out there...I say simple songs are for simple minds:) |
