Tactics comes in third. ;)

dude... you realize that FF 2 and FF 3 weren't released in America until very recently right? the 2 and 3 you're thinking of are really 4 and 6, respectively.

with that being said, FF VI is the best, imo. the story was great. there was an actual villain, unlike all the newer FF's since 7. so many good characters. a great magic system. ONLY thing it lacked was a true main character. many argue Terra is the main character... but you dont even need to get her to beat the game.

3 was never officially released in America... there's been an underground fan translation by Alex W Jackson a few years ago. It's such a good game, though definitely shows its age compared to the newer FFs. It's straight up, no bull RPG gameplay.

Oh yeah, there is NO way to revive Aeris in FF7, US or Japan. There were a few changes to the US version, like they added in the 2 Weapons and I think sped up the minigames or something. And Aerith was her Japanese name, they mistranslated it as Aeris in the US version. But nothing really too significant... not as significant as the changes between Japanese FF4 and US FF2.

Those are pictures for the short movie called Final Fantasy Advent Children. It is a sequel to FFVII, but look to only be in movie format. Here is an article on it Click Here

Oh and btw, of course I was kidding about mystic quest, that's why I had the ;) at the end of the sentence :D

I would think it's more of a prequel though since everyone dies in the end :toothless

also, I found this website on some of the FF7 rumers.. it doensn't address them but it does give a list of them, all of which I've heard but I forgot about the White Chocobo and how it was used to fight onyx who is supposedly hiding in the swamps where the snake is..

check it out

The Jap version never had the emerald or ruby weapons. they were only added for euro and US releases. Also there was nothing in the Jap that we didnt get only the other way around.

Gotta be VII since that's the one that really started to get me into rpgs, but x and x-2 are pretty close behind it.

yea same here, i'll never forget the first time i played FF7, awesome :tongue2

SuperFarStucker
FF1 US AND JAPAN = SAME
FF2 US = FF3 JAPAN
FF2 JAPAN = DOESN'T EXIST IN US (CAN PLAY ON ANTHOLOGY ACTUALLY - SUX HARDCORE)
FF3 US = FF6 JAPAN
FF4 JAPAN ONLY RELEASE
FF5 JAPAN ONLY RELEASE
then everything was synced back up again.

final fantasy 2,3,7,10 are the highlights of the series IMO. None of them are particularly stronger than the other although they get increasingly more complex as technology increases (go figure). Not only in appearance but in depth as well.

Word is if you hack aeris back into your game using a gameshark/savegame hacking you will see that she still has script in the game unique to her all the way to the end (although there are some unfinished parts whcih will cause teh game to crash while playing with her). You were supposed to be able to revive her but they were more concerned with releasing the game then bringing back a retarded character - so it didn't make it in prior to release :p

FF rpgs bother me though. After FF1 (and excluding stuff like tactics etc.) they are more like interactive story books than video games. Few challenges - if any exist in the game; it's just one massive timesink. I guess that could be said about all video games though...

I think breath of fire 3 and secret of mana are the best rpgs to ever exist. Somewhat challenging gameplay coupled with compelling story lines.

I love the FF series. But you are so right about BOF 3 that game owned. Haven't played Secret of Mana though.
