do most of you's do this-the track you are bringing in have the bass down and other one up(of course) and then switch them on the 32?
just curiuos? |

it depends. sometimes if i want a hard entrance i'll use my kill switches and punch in the bass for the incoming. but if i want a smooth transition, i'll try to slowly adjust the eq's so it sounds level. |

Like what the above guy said, depending on the songs, I either bring the song in with the bass mostly cut and slowly fade it across, or bring it in cut and slam across.

ummmm.... since my ty ass mixer doesnt have seperate eqs for each chanel i pretty much wing it. i cant wait til i get my hands on a decent mixer with eqs but until then i make sure that the songs that i am trying to mixer really go together nicely. |

its all song dependant. Sometimes I bring in the bass without the highs....sometimes bring the highs for 64 or even longer with no bass.
this is how you develope a style, don't just follow the same pattern with every mix....vary it to sound good with each record...
I am still working on that now :) |

i spose the same for me as the above posts. but i like it more when the right fills line up for a quick full crossover of the bass on each track. but thats just more my style, a little mo', "in yo' face", rather than almost hiding behind fading. thats just me though, i used to spin a lot of uk hardhouse so maybe its just older habits from that. :tongue2 |

It depends on the song.
I always check the EQ levels and try to tweak it less or more for each frequency making sure that one doesn't overpower the other.
Yeah, but for my sets, I usually kill the BASS and sometimes the TREBLE and mix in with the current track. I am weird though when it comes to mixing. I don't use my X-FADER rather I use the channel upfaders. When I do the acid test and am lowering the volume on the outgoing track, I'll do a quick switch of the BASS on both channels so that my incoming track will have the kick and the outgoing track can keep the snares and claps.
But like I said, it really depends on what track it is and what needs to be EQ'd frequency-wise. |

lol... not using the crossfader is not weird. i'd say that 95% of the djs here do the same. crossfader i'd say is more for turntablism use. |

LOL! Sweet, I ain't the only one. Actually, my X-fader bleeds when I mix from Channel 2 to Channel 1, so I had to go that route. Apparently, when I was "tablin'," the X-fader couldn't handle my gorilla roughness. But IMO, it feels weird to use the X-fader now.
LOL
The only reason why I keep that mixer is because I am broke and it has decent kill switches. I'm looking to upgrade it though. Thinking about the PPD-01. I'd opt for the DJM-300 but I want effects and I don't need BPM counters...that's what my ears & pitch slider are for.
Btw, I'm Asian too dude. You should come visit a couple sites that I maintain...

hmmmmm.....
i dont really stick to any set method i tend to play around with differant possibilities. there are many differant ways of going from one record to another (it would be a longer list than i could be arsed making +i would miss some through forgetfullness). i dont always kill a certain EQ instead pulsing differant ones gaining a diferant effect. there are actualy times that mixing between two tunes sounds more effestive without the EQ's than with.
just play around and see what works but by all means dont stick with that method. but just because some method doesnt work once doesnt mean it will never work. |
