Ok, 24 has got to have the most badass characters I've ever seen in a TV show. Jack is the ultimate ass-kicker when he wants to be. Although its kind of a shame they killed Nina off - she's just about the only bad guy smart and resourceful enough to go against Jack. She's like him, she's got the moves.
Him finally finishing her off was the 3rd time he'd kicked her ass this season. When she had Jack tied to that chair in Mexico, and he head butted her then smashed the chair to get out my jaw seriously dropped - it was so unexpected. I don't know how else to describe that move as just plain "awesome".
In conclusion:

agreed. there's no way they would stop the virus to not spread once it's released in the air.
I was more afraid to see his hands cut off by the fan than see the virus goes off.
