I just picked up the book Rave America - New School Dancescapes. I have read the Orlando, Florida section and it seems pretty accurate. I recommend this book.
Does anyone know of any other good books that relate to this subject? |

It talks a lot about the club "Edge" and the scene of breakdancers there. How the scene moved to Firestone. The anti-rave laws passed there. The weak fight against them, then more recently (the book is dated 1999) how cyberzone became the late night haven for ravers. It's a good 20+ pages about Orlando. If you want more info, I can write a summary for you. Just let me know. |

| Oh, I also skimmed Last Night a Dj Saved my life. Seems like a good book if you want to delve deep into the origins of our scene, but it doesn't pertain much the the scene as it is today. |

almost every Irvine Welsh novel describes either house/jungle/techno, all very positively.
if that's what you were going for. |

| Try Simon Reynolds - Energy Flash http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...2141713-6366829 and Tim Barr's Rough Guide To Techno for educational purposes. As for fictional stuff, Jeff Noon's Needle In The Groove should do nicely, along with Irvine Welsh's stuff as already mentioned. |
