bassline emergency!

Greetings tranceaddicts! :)

Until last night, i've used my nordlead for basslines. Before it went broke. :( And now im stuck with a song that has to be done and finalized during next week with NO bassline nor synth to create one.

I've never used any softsynths before but i think this could be a good day to start. I already downloaded a demo version of V-Station and I have to say it sounds pretty nice. Unfortunately i don't think I know how to use even half of it's possibilities.

So, could anyone please please please write me a tutorial how to create a basic (but good quality), solid rolling bassline (above&beyond, rollerball etc.) with V-Station and maybe with the help of some other (preferably free) softsynths.

I tried to find topics related to this matter but didn't find anything specific enough, i hope you dont mind.

help me out and i'll love you 4ever :D (sorry 'bout my bad english..)

you should be able to create some sweet basslines using just a V-Station and of course some EQ and all the nessecery effects, it's a fairly straight forward synth to use just have a play around ! :D

it does seem to be rather easy to use, the problem is that i just don't got much time to play with it.. at least not atm. :(

i don't know about you guys but it usually takes at least a month for me to learn to use a new synth, not to mention to use it on a song 'bout to be released! :nervous:

anyhow, still waiting for someone to help me with it. :tongue2

hehe well, i would just mess about on it, sequence the kind of bassline you want and then just flick through the patches, when something sounds interesting, just tweak it until you are happy!

here is a nice rolling bassline (x is the kick, ' high note . low of the same note) hope you can make sense of it lol

got to admit that I use the default preset with V-Station sometimes. All I do is open the VST that loads with a default Bass preset, Tweak the filter a bit, add a high pass eq with a delay at the end and bobs your auntie :D

(to then spend half a week getting the right kick sample :stongue: )

hehe thats my trick :)

kosmo - if your used to hardware, im sure the soft variety should be very similar in terms of what each knob does etc? Maybe im wrong on this one, but good luck :)

Personally if I was about to 'release' a track and was in your position I would try like buggery to borrow/hire or steal one from somewhere (at least then you know you can get the sound that you had before). Won't you're label help you out?

Well in looking at the nordrack3 real fast.. i notice some things:

It has your standard osc 1 and 2 with osc mod and mix settings.

It also has its filter area that is also fairly standard. It contains the filter envelope and frequencie setting knobs dB setting ect.

It has its amp envelope which everyone should know.

And it has its 2 LFOs. LFO 1 and LFO 2 which are both assignable to any part of the synth.

Last but not least you have your unison stack detune, glide, voice mode, glide, keyboard, vibrato, and arpeggio section which can also be found on some synths.

What is my point?
If you know how to tweak out your nord you should be able to mess with any analog style synth.

My Suggestions:
I have heard good things about the disco discovery vst i believe it can even load nordlead2 patches. That may be the best way for you to go. Another vst that may work for you is the superwave p8 vst which uses a similar 2 osc setup (based somewhat on the jp-80x0 synth) im sure you could get a decent sound from that. And last but not least, i would say use the novation v-station vst.. i love that vst ive gotten everything from rolling basslines to fat leads from that although the setup is slightly different from the nord. The v-station uses a 3 osc setup.

Well.. i wish you good luck.

Normally, i'd just borrow the necessary hardware that I need for the bassline but unfortunately this time it's not possible either..

I know that the nord is a very basic analog style synth but it did took me some time before I really learned how to use it's full "power". Every synth has its own secret "fat" knob.. you just have to know where to tweak! :)

I ordered V-Station, so hopefully I learn it fast&well within next week.

thanks from your concern anyway.. and i'd still be more than pleased to see that tutorial. ;) I quess it could be a great help for some others as well.
