Stanton S-250 or Numark Axis 2

i know most of you will say "save up and buy pioneer CDJ100S" but I need 2 cheap cd players because Im the poorest of poor uni student and just want to learn to beat mix and have a bit of fun so i can get a good setup when i get a real job that uses my degree =P

now - has anyone had any experience with either stanton 250s or Numark Axis 2's. If so please post your opinions on both these units. Please no "Don't get either get a pioneer." or "Don't get those, get a Numark Axis 9" because that's really utterly useless because I just can't afford that.

how much do the axis 2's go for? cause cdj100s can be had for 1100..

stanton s-250 vs. axis 2 -> get the axis 2

because the s-250 didn't have a jog-dial e.g. for frame searchin . you know what i mean? take a look an the s-250 and compare this with the axis 2

but there are more low cost players around - why this 2? must it be a top load cd player?

i prefered a double cd player with seperate controls.. because i have turntables too and so the best place for the cd controller is near the mixer. i plan to buy a double cd player because i have 2 single (but also no top loading) cd players with pitch control and the handling is bad because i must move my hands once to the cd player, then i fade in the track and wenn i must pitch bend a little, i must try to control the cd player with my other hand.... not very comfortable....

but the axis looks good and if i have to buy a toploader, i would take the axis 2 too - because i also haven't so much money for a pioneer or denon top loader

ok... hope you understand me - because i'm from germany and i'm using my english not very often

I'm always saying...

If you're gonna skratch, go with turntables. Nothing is fresher than vinyl and all you kats know that.

If you're gonna mix and don't wanna go vinyl, get the Stanton-250 or a top-loading CD player, 'cuz you don't need to scratch. Screw the Pioneers and whatever is up there.

If you're gonna skratch and wanna go with CDs, you're out of luck! :haha:

Another option just cause they discontinued this model and you mcan probably find a bomb deal for it online is the Numark axis 8. It is definetly up there with some of the higher end cd players. I know you said don't suggest expensive tables; but I can say from using the Numark axis 2, the jog dial just does'nt work as well if even close to the axis 8's. And considering they are discontinued then they should be way cheaper by now, so worth looking into. Plus the jog dial on the axis 8 does have scratch effects, because it is touch sensitive. And you'll get the bonus of alot of neat DSP effects and some modes like hot stutter or looping! So I'd search the web for a good price on some of those, before settling for the axis 2's, which are also good cd players though!

thanks guys. i'll look into the axis 8's but im in Australia so Im not too keen on ordering from the US or Europe coz shipping would probably eliminate the discount =) I'll try dig some old axis 8's up tho.

^^yeah definetly hit up Ebay; was just browsing there and saw some going for between $150-180 new, and have to say damn that is a hella killa price. (Especially considering thats what most stores chargs for a new axis 2)!

Well, realistically.....those are far from over. If you look at recently completed ones...they seem like they're going for $250-280 plus shipping new.

Although there was a used one that went for $190...

oh and my roommate had axis 2's....they were really good for the price. Held up well and you could mix on them.

I don't like hte lack of a jog wheel on those stantons...i'd probably do the numarks.
