I never wear a seatbelt.
My best friend was in the back of a SUV type thing (wasn't exactly an SUV but wasn't a truck) when the driver lost control and they slammed into a tree. The exact spot where she was sitting was the part of the car that slammed against the tree. Due to the fact that she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, she got away with only a broken pelvis and a few cuts. Had she worn a seatbelt, she would have been paralyzed for the rest of her life, or worse, dead.
There are a million arguments to wear a seatbelt and not to. |
I think you're more likely though to be in an accident where a seatbelt would save your life. If you were to get hit head-on without one you'd be having a nice trip through the windshield which very few people survive. |

There are a million arguments to wear seatbelts, and very few not to. It's quite rare for you to be better off without one. |

are you from south florida?? i'm listening to 949 zeta now at work:) good radio station....
oh, and buckle up!! i always wear mine. a lot of morons in florida get their licenses and they can't even speak english, let alone read the damn road signs. it's not worth your life to not wear a seatbelt...it can all be over in the blink of an eye. |

| One reason not to wear a seatbelt would be if you're quite short, and the belt isn't adjustable. You don't want it going across your throat - for obvious reasons. Though it's generally a good idea, I'm strongly opposed to laws which require seatbelt use because they're situationally ineffective, and it should be left to the individual's judgment, not a silly piece of paper. |

| i don't like the feeling of the seatbelt across my neck either, so most of the time i put it on, and then take the top part and put it behind my back. i forget it's even there...i'm still belted down in the lap....better than not at all i guess. especially when the top is down...at least i wouldn't get thrown out of the car if i got in an accident. |

werd. did you know you have to buckle up even in the back seat? common misconseption that it's "safer" back there... yea right.
in many crashes the people in the back killed the people in the front because they kept going forward when the car stopped. |

Yeah. :)
That's exactly what I used to do when I was a child and the seatbelt bothered me. |
