yo, computeraddicts, it's that time of the year, and i need to build myself a new PC. first, motherboards. i can choose from these:
http://www21.brinkster.com/babeque/mobo.htm
thats CAT#, then brand/model, finally price (that's in Dominican Peso, DOP, is basically ~49DOP to 1US)
keep in mind, i currently have integrated sound and video, so i dont have any extra cards for that. are there mobos with integrated audio/video, but also have the possibility of getting non-integrated cards hooked up to them?
you see my situation is that of a person who has to scavange for parts and take what he can get, so i know SQUAT about brandnames. i currently have a Celeron 400MHz processor, and will for a little longer. give me any info you think could help. thanks guys. |

WTF? Try www.cyberpowerpc.com or another site from same outfit www.buyxtremegear.com You name components in the configurator and they build and ship to you. Don't know overseas charge. Have bought last 4 of my computers from them and can't beat price for state of the art components (last one was a 3.2 Intel smoker). You can go anywhere from el cheapo to smoking and spend bucks on video cards, hard drives, memory, or whatever suits your fancy. Don't buy anything with a CPU below 2Ghz or a MB below 400mhz or you're wasting your time.

Yes, I believe there are. My mobo has integrated audio but I don't think it has integrated video. I just disabled the integrated audio because I put a Soundblaster Audigy 2 in.
If you're going to go with an Intel processor then I recommend an ASUS mobo. |

i own a system from powerpc, works good nice price. i wouldnt recommend putting ur own system together for few reasons
1. no warranty (only on the individual parts which can be difficult to return if ur not a dealer).
2. u'll end up with a headache if u mix incompatible components together.
3. not worth the time it takes to assemble.
So its a bad idea if your looking to save money, but if you want a project to learn about hardware or need a hobby to fill ur time go head. |

My order from NCIX.com was shipped yesterday.
AMD Athlon XP 2500+, Soltek 75FRN-L, Samsung 512MB PC3200, Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 128MB, and Seagate Barracuda 7200 120GB for $710CAD (and that includes shipping from BC to NS, insurance, and tax). |

:stongue: Dude, building a computer is not rocket science. If you think you need a warranty on a computer you build then you shouldn't even be thinking about building one.
The money you save by building it yourself far outweighs any warranty. I saved well over $1000 building my computer, the total cost came to something like $1200 and this system would have easily cost $2000+ at a place like Gateway. I could have saved even more if I didn't have a modded case, LED fans, cold cathodes, etc. Oh and it took me less than 2 hours to have my system up and running, first time I ever completly built a computer. My case has a temperature readout on the front, clock, front USB 2.0 ports plus earphone and mic jacks as well. |

Do you realise that most of major components in ur old pc won't work with the a new mobo? (ram, cpu, powersupply, hardrive?...) |

| yes, i am aware that may happen, which is why im going to buy a mobo first, and eventually get more parts, depending on your opinions, id go different ways on which mobo to get, to eventually build myself a new system. |

My new epox 8RDA3+ rev 2.1 came with 6.1 onbord sound(kicks ass), and can handle all of the socket 7 amd chips. you should get something similar, but never get onbord video, it sucks the cock.
If you need help with figuring out wether or not parts will be compatable, message me, I have nothing but free time, and free experience. (hardcore overclocker :D) |
