We live in the land of house music most of the res dj's at the clubs spin house when they do have a Big DJ come to visit it seems to be some kind of trance or tech DJ.. everyone goes on about how good the tunes where that night and then they go back to the clubs with house and the DJ goes back to europe... Even great Cdn DJ's like Max Graham spend more time in europe then at home....can't blame them though that's where the money and true trance scene is......after all Max has spun at cream in the U.K and other super clubs but he has Yet to have a Night at the GUV on T.O. I would love to see him at that place........Oh well maybe one day............I still have hope:D

I think the problem with the US is that the club scene is still really esoteric - that is that there are good clubs/dj's there (particularly along some of the East Coast cities like Detroit, Chicago, NYC etc.) but the "normal people" - the people who aren't already part of the scene - find it hard to get into the whole thang.

For instance, I can't speak for the rest of Australia, but down here in Melbourne, even the people who aren't all that interested in electronic music still quite commonly get really involved in the club scene. For instance, a lot of my mates aren't really all that interested in electronic music, but it's still usually them who drag me out clubbing, not the other way around. The club scene has just been so embedded into the culture down here that it's just part of the standard Friday/Saturday night routine - what club are we going to tonight?

I think a lot of it has to do with the European influence, particularly the Greeks and Italians. I mean we have the biggest Greek population outside of Athens here in Melbourne or something, and it shows. I mean you go to a club - especially one of the classy ones - and it will be at least 30-40% Greek/Italian, particularly the male half. Now this is a really good thing, because all of the wogs (that's not a detrimental term by the way - it's just what they've grown to be called and call themselves) that I know are into electronic music by varying degrees of depth, and without them I doubt that Melbourne would have developed the club culture it has now.

Like jeronemango said, there are loads of clubs down here, so you never get bored, and I honestly think that Melbourne would be coming pretty close to being the club capital of the sothern hemisphere. I mean there's only really Sydney and perhaps some of the larger South American cities competing for that honour, but - and this is not just because I live there - I honestly think that Melbourne would pip them all.

Anyways, carry on. :)

mmmmmmmmm, don't forget Belgium :). It's that same country that produced 'universal nation' :). But ok, for the rest out trance scene is rather commercial, but we have great clubs, such as Zillion, Revolution, Highstreet...

You're not allowed to listen to trance music unless you are asian.
AND, you're not allowed to listen to trance unless you are a raver.
AND you can't be a raver unless you are asian.
so 1+1+1, only asians are allowed to listen to trance, or else you are considered a poser or biter, or one of those crazy w3rds.

that's the kind of atmosphere that's been adopted here. and i hate it.
