hotels/motels to stay in Ft Lauderdale

hi all - looking for anyone that could offer me some advice. I am heading down to the sun in ft lauderdale in April and looking for any advice/recommendations on where to stay. Looking for somewhere relatively cheap, near the beach and the night-life.
any info would be appreciated.

| Try the Yankee Clipper or Yankee Trader ...... I stayed there last year for my bday & it was pretty nice. I forget which one is directly on the beach, but its nice. As far as price ...???? I dont really recall, again it was my bday. $ wasnt an issue. |

thanks for the tip, that place is really nice, however it is pretty damn expensive unfortunately. Anyone have anything that is more like $100 a night or so? |
