Regarding New Releases Forum (pg. 2)

It clearly states the artist and both remixes on the vinyl release.
Also, any thread with "just heard this on ASOT", "when is this out?", "any word on this track?" etc etc, should just be deleted. If you want to talk about a random tune or a specific remix, then use the Music Discussion Forum - that's what it's there for. The New Releases Forum should be for tunes that have been released - allowing substantial information to be provided and giving people the opportunity to give a decent response. |
yeh this is exactly what should happen, like in the old days...
i think it was ever since MiB started posted loads of threads about mp3 releases in the new releases forum about a year and a half ago its gone to as everyone has followed suit...
extend my modding ability to new releases and ill gladly sort it out :whip: |

only problem i see with not posting 'new tunes' (asot rips, liveset rips) in the new releases forum, is that they will have no place to get posted and discussed...
if you post somehtign about a tune/new remix you heard in ASOT, and u want info about it.... posting it in the Music Discussion forum it'll get lost in there with all the gay posts people put in there...
i dont think i need to giev any examples..
the new relases forum is the only good place to actually talk purely about new music, whether it's out on vinyl or promo CDR, or whatever... |

I've always thought the New Releases section is for actual releases and/or for reviews of them, not about tracks you've heard on ASOT or likes or in livesets and managed to get a 0-day mp3 just saying OMG this OMG that. IMO a record is not a release yet if its not available for an "average joe" to buy yet. Its just handed out to a handful of big DJs and that doesn't mean releasing it yet.. Many times the release date might be months later but so what? It still hasn't been a release until the very day of releasing it has come.
And many threads there don't have anything to do with reviewing a track or even discussing of it, just requests to get the mp3, even if they don't say it straight.
If the huge number of "mp3" threads can't be decreased, at least there should be some rule to review the posted tracks or just something more constructive than just "OMG what a track!!" I die!! When is it coming out?" Loads of TAs just start an endless hype if they found out about a certain artist is gonna release a new track and post a thread there immediately without knowing much of anything more about the forthcoming track or tracks.
These are just my opinions and i know this has been discussed a million times but i'd like also to have some change there. I haven't been visiting that section for a long time jsut because i'm soo tired about the "OMG" threads about mp3 releases.
One possibility could be to divide the releases section to 2 parts, Reviews and Release info or something like that. I dunno if it would work tho. |

i agree with you GrimReaper to an extent....
but like i said, there's no place for people to really put those releases that aren't released, and the general public know no release dates for...
but we all know there are TA's browsing the forums that have the inside info on labels, remixes & release dates... and they don't mind sharing that info with people keeping an eye out for new tunes.
i just feel that we keep it the way it is, or create a separate thread for 'future releases'
they will get lost amongst the bull in 'Music Discussion'
i've been on the board for almost 4 years.. and i've seen many changes, there's so many users and so many ideas and demands coming about that we need to adapt somehow. |

Well, I'm just saying that we should be using the forums for the purpose they were put there for.
"New Releases" forum should be used to discuss new cd and vinyl releases. "Music Discussion" should be used to discuss music in general - old or new.
I'm sure the users who frequent the Political Discussion forum wouldn't appreciate threads about sporting events just because the Sports Forum is too full and their threads might get "lost amongst the bull".
The only thing that is getting lost now is the true information that people like myself want to see, when we want to buy the music that we like... |

I already had this debate with Neo, and he said that the forum is meant just for discussing new tunes, released or not. Which is fair enuff, but then I suggest that the forum be renamed to "New Tunes" or something similar and the forum description says "discuss the newest productions here" or something similar. Its current name will just cause confusion and arguements, since many of the tunes discussed in the forum aren't out yet, and thus it is debatable to call them "new releases". |

Well isn't it strange that Swamper says "Its purpose is to discuss new vinyl or CD releases - not to comment on 'bad rips' or whatever.".
If that's not giving a clear indication of this forum's purpose, then I don't know what is... |
