check for spy-ware on your computer.
Use a program like Ad-aware which you can get for free from http://download.com.com/3000-8022-1...tml?tag=lst-0-1

There is a lot of political hassle going on with the root name servers (specifically the f-root & b-root ones) and Verisign's gtld servers....

i figured it was something deeper than Muffs explanation. nevertheless, i took Muff's advice and cleaned up my adwares.

apparently while using another browser, i don't run in such problems so i don't think ur explanation totally sums it up.

anyone else who can propose a better theory?

I did have one machine at work that I could just NOT figure out.
It was some type of DNS hi-jacker that got installed and would NOT go away.
I've seen a couple called QHost; it's been around for about a year but it's still out there...

QHost-1 Trojan changes DNS settings, exploits IE

update: i was too lazy to get my DNS settings to default so i just deleted the reigstery substring as it said on the site... did it work? lol no not really
