Well, make a list of things that you absolutely WANT on your cd-deck, things like cue, jog-wheel, loops, etc... and then pick the deck that offers those functions for the best price.
In quality, I don't think it matters what deck you buy. Both of them are great decks, so it just comes down to features vs. price I guess. |

the pioneer has a larger jog wheel which i like.. i guess mp3 support is not too important. the thing is i can get both these players at the same price. and the from what i've read, the functions are very similar. |

I own the CMX-3000 and what I like and really use a lot on it is the Wave table, .05% pitch increments, and hot cues. The CMX-3000 can remember previously saved cues as you load the CD. This allows for fast mixing or tricks. |

ok
im in a perfect position to answer this, as the club i play at on fridays has the Denon and the club on saturdays has the pioneer.
-The mp3 support on the denon is e- you cant cue with them and they skip- not to mention they sound really bad anyway.
-The pioneer has MAJOR issues with any kind of dirt/fingerprints/scratches on the cds- the most minute crap on it and it tends to stop , not just skip it like others. Its more sensitive/tempremental with all types of cds than the denon
-Both of them save cue points- which is a pain when it gets confused between cds and decides to about with them by recueing or restarting
-The pioneer offers a scratching emulation which is ok ( as far as digital crap scratching goes)
-Track searching/skipping large chunks is faster with the denon.
-Pitch readout is accurate to 0.0X? on the pioneer/ 0.1 on the denon
-A big big big plus of the pioneer is the trayless loading
-The platter stop(brake) mode on the denon is e- it is good on the denon 1800f and the 2600, but on this model it sucks ass.
-Pioneers pitch functions are much much better- can adjust up to 100% pitch and seriously about with the sound. Pioneer has pitch key function too (keeps the same pitch even if you speed it up +16% or whatever). The denon does not- despite it being a function in previous models (2600f being one) (dumbasses)
-The pioneer also has a function where it will auto match the picth and bpm of the two cds- handy if you cant pitch properly or are just lazy.
Out of the two it is a close call, but i would use the pioneer- although over the both of them i would choose a denon 2600f hands down..
Both are professional standard decks- you wont go wrong with either, although the pioneer has far more features so i would be inclined to recommend it over the 4000
But like i said, check out the Denon 2600F instead of the 4000- its a much better comparison
Any more opinions/experiences/help dont hesitate to ask. |

great, thanks for the mini review freak.. i'd probably get the pioneer according now. but how does the pioneer compare to the 2600f? apparently its a discontinued model, but it seems to have much of the same features |

well ive used the 2600f for years with no problems at all..
Pioneer was only installed a less than 8 weeks ago, so cant comment on the reliability of it.... but it has ed up a few times...
If it doesnt like a part of a cd, it wont just play through it with a hiccup- it will stop dead- thats the main gripe i have with it. And these are cds i will play on the denon in one venue, then try them in the pioneer in the same week and they play with no problems on the denon.
Ive also had a few problems with it making up its own cue points on certain discs. All minor problems, but still present nonetheless
God knows why they discontinued the 2600- its far superior to the 4000.
If its 4000 vs CMX-3000, then the pioneer wins....
Otherwise have a looky at the 2600- find a decent used one and save some cash-- but the pioneer is a very very good and competent deck- you will be impressed with it and its newer features |

I used to own a Denon DN-9000 (the most advanced dual disc CD player according to Denon). Loved the thing in every respect except for the 0.1% increments - a huge setback.
currently for CD use I have a pair of Pioneer CDJ800's |

I own the 2600f, and i really like it. Although some people say that the .1 pitch increment is ty, i don't have any problems with that. The 2600f has 3 different modes for pitch bending, and i don't have any probs with beatmatching. I never used the pioneer, so i can't compare those decks for you. But I only want to say that the pitching ain't a problem for me

I personally prefer the Pioneer.Like the jog wheel.
Also it takes a very long time to load a loop in the 4000.I think thats because of its mp3 compatibility...its really slow.I find it very annoying. If you have to make a short loop in the 4000 its very tough. |
