My old life anyways... Lost my hard drive the other day... everything - music, pictures, documents, software... :whip:  :(

Didn't back it up.

Cuz I was lazy and a dumbass

But I'm definitely a Dell customer for life - getting a new HD tomorrow, for free :tongue2 :happy2:

But I gotta decide if I wanna destroy the hard drive to recover what I lost in the old one (which means I would hafta pay for the new one)

Time to start a new life :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief

Thats cool Dell is paying for a replacement but I don't understand why you have to destroy the old one to get your lost files back:conf:

buy a new hard drive. You may be able to save the old one.
hitokiri
damn bro that sux hopefully u ll be able to get ur stuff back :fingers crossed:

what i would do, is run norton disk doctor on your old one, never know it might for some reason come back to life. This has happened to me before and i almost killed my brother for being on my computer on the time of the death. Now that i'm working what i will do just to be safe is buy a 80 GB drive, an External Exclosure shell and put all my trance music, videos and whatnot in their. Sucks though, you're never really safe because every drive dies eventaully so.... ur best bet is burning your files
Also... i would feel the same way if i lost my drive.... starting over from scratch !? after all the time that i've put into em :(, makes me tear just thinking about it

This happened to me on New Years of 2003. I learned my lesson, now I back up everything once a month.
Don't worry, when it first happens it feels like the end of the world, but soon you will be busy filling up your new HD and wont care anymore ;)
