Creating synth sounds

Do you guys create your own synth sounds or do you use the default banks that come with your synths...
What percentage would you say are "custom" in your tracks?
Just curious...cuz it aint easy finding a synth sound that fits good in some of my productions...but its even HARDER to make'em...ehhehe;) |

| I create just about all of my synth sounds...Sometimes if I come across a really good preset, I might tweak it to get the sound I want out of it... |

yeah i always seem to base my own synth sounds upon presets.
sometimes it is best to create ur own though, if theres no decent presets available. |

| The majority of the sounds I use are either created by me or tweaked presets. I don't think I've ever used a preset that hasn't been modified by me in one way or another. I prefer using my own stuff though. |

I always think its best to make my own. That way, you can make it fit into the mix because you know what has made each character in the sound.
Sometimes, I just run the midi through all the banks to find something that work and then tweak it to fit. |

| Based on presets me like, although my spanking new little number is based on a lead I made on Oxe FM from scratch (if you are reading this and do not have this free wonder, open up a window and search for it now. NOW I TELL YOU!):eek: Working from a preset is a little bit of a tutor - trancearp preset in VAZ2010 saves my butt every time. |

The basses i use are mostly presets, then with a little help of Mr. Scream 4 Distortion, Mr Compression and Mr Equalizer i get fair results..
Then mostly i use self made leads, because
TWEAKIN' RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how would you do that? I always have to play the tune and switch the patches whilst playback is occuring.
What about percussion though guys??? Do you use sampled loops? Do you use sampled patches and make your own patterns?
This is a real challenge...tuffer than leads IMO.:o |

| Well Since I use Battery for my percussion, I just look for some good perc samples to tweak and edit so they fit the style I'm looking for. I stay away from preset loops or patterns since I like to make my own. |
