I completely agree with Pr0digy. I purchased both of my turntables (Tech 1200 Mk2s) on eBay for a little more than half of the retail cost. They have yet to let me down, I doubt they ever will. Mine weren't mint and they have some scratches but they are not hindered in any way.

It's all about the feedback system. It's a pretty safe bet that someone with a couple hundred positives is going to be reliable. If something seems a little sketchy or too good to be true, don't buy from them. If you use Paypal, don't hesitate to get buyer insurance from them. It's like 10 dollars, but they will refund you if you get cheated and settle things with the seller on their own.

Above all, if you have questions on a particular auction, this forum is probably the best place you could ask for help. Be smart and you'll never have a problem. :)

Edit: VVVV I do agree with you Nemesis about those particular turntables VVVV

I agree,

The reason why I wouldn't buy the above stuff is because it's crap not because E-bay is bad. As long as you do it through pay-pal and not privately you are covered.

But it is worth looking for better decks.

i think you're better off saving some cash and getting the higher end equipment if you're really serious about spinning.

I agree with you Nem, was just saying that eBay is a GREAT resource. Sorry if my last post wasn't completely clear, but my "advanced electronic art" class was over ;)

A class in PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Flash and Cinema 4D. You have the option on which to focus, so I mostly do PhotoShop and Dreamweaver, with a touch of Flash (when required). It's a high school course, but they tell us it's actually rather rare to have such a good class offered to us.

yea it is, all our computer classes are ..

anyways back to topic !

I personally just bought 2 Stanton's to get started on for Ebay. Besides feedback, the best idea is to CONTACT the seller. If the person replies quickly and accurately, then I see no reason not to trust them. I emailed the seller (before the auction was even over) to see if I could buy them right off him, and he replied with a polite email about what his decisions were. Good thing I didn't buy it right away, cause I got it for cheaper! :-)

Just bought this, if you wanted to know (yes, i need to change the mixer once I get better) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...DME:B:EOAB:US:6

Sounds like a great setup. M3D's are just a version of the Technics 1200. They are basically the same as an mk5. I believe that the PMC17A is supposed to be a rather good mixer, and you can't go wrong with Orotofon needles.

I got ripped off on eBay for the first time (out of literally at least 100 purchases) it was for a sound card.. $150.. eBay gave me back $120 of it so it wasn't a total loss...
