I don't produce, but I was wondering if the 'effect' in the following sample has a specific name.
Right Click Save As Please
On the 65th beat, approx 28 seconds in, the melody suddenly takes a really distinctive and sudden change. Is there a correct producing term for such a change?
Thanks,

I don't think it has a name really.
If you listen to it closely you'll hear that the melody doesn't actually change at all - it's only the bass that changes the note. |

I may be wrong but I think its called a phrase transition... :conf: |

always wanted to know how to do that kind of bass key changes correctly but music theory is being a pain in the ass :nervous:
noticed m.i.k.e. uses this trick a few times in his tracks (ex: exposure - magic impuls), it has 'blown up' after the buildup but sounds repetitive, then he enters the new bass and sounds great |

Yeh, thats the bass that changes key.
Nothing special though.
When the kick drum changes key correctly, that sounds awesome. |

Yup, that's a chord change. Happens in almost every trance song I know.
One reason why it sounds so good is the tendency to hammer on just one chord for the first few minutes of the song - building up heaps of tension - which is then released at the chord change. That's when it sounds really lush. |

I don't really see why it would be difficult to do - first you need to have a synth and a bass in the same key. Then you keep the synth in the same key but change the bass 1-2 notes higher or lower.
If it sounds off try a different note.
And you're done. |
