| Which do you guys prefer? I like the vocal trance myself if the vocals are good and you can get lost in the music:o |

I think it isn't so much a question of "vocal vs. non-vocal," as it is a question of "what compositions are good?"
I feel the vocals shouldn't make the composition, likewise if there are vocals the instrumentals shouldn't make the composition. It's all about what works, not what kind. |

This has be talked about a lot of time. And many people have different tastes. For me personally I look at it this way. Their are tons of awesome songs WITHOUT vocals. As well as tons WITH vocals. But it comes down to this one for me. What songs really move me? What songs do I put on and it provokes an emotion of somekind. And virtually every occurance of this, their are strong female vocals present.
So, can a song be good without vocals? OF COURSE Can a song be more emotional with vocals? OF COURSE. I say this because as strong as a song maybe with the buildup, harmony, melody, baseline, we as humans relate to words. And in those words, we connect which evoke emotional or personally feelings of somekind.

| true i just like trance that is uplifting and makes the little hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you hear it. a whole set cant be fully uplifting though otherwise the energy is low so their has to be a good mix of uplifting music and some good hard pounding energy :) |

I'd rather no vocals, but there are some exceptions ie dilerium - silence (tiesto's ISOS remix) :eyes:
I'm not really into tunes that have vocals overshadowing the melodies. |

If you stop looking at it along that axiom (vocal vs. non vocal) things get simpler. I prefer to sort out tunes a few ways
e->quality
don't like->like
Therefore, vocals aren't the equation, but a mere part - as they should be. If they don't fit the tune, they are obnoxious, or overpowering then the tune is probably , or I just don't like the tune. Who is to say? |

I prefer none vocals
vocals are ok but not when some guy is singing,that just makes the song sound gay.Its ok when the male vocal has a dark sound to it but thats it. |

| Doesn't really matter to me, but vocal tracks I think are a lot easier to trainspot than nonvocals. |

| yes yes i would have to concure with most about it just depending on the song... BUT with vocals.. i only find myself focusing on the vocals and thinking "i wonder what that means" or trying to fit THEIR lyrics into my everyday life situations, whereas without vocals, i can think whatever I want, and develop any emotion I want... which makes the non vocal stuff hit me harder ... or maybe im just a control freak ?:whip: |
