basically the title says it all. i have been looking to trade in my old mixer a numark dxm-06 for an ecler smac pro30 for a long time and i finally sold my old mixer and some ortofons i had. however, after looking at the pcv-275 which can be bought for about 250-300 on ebay, i dont know if i want to dish out 380 for the smac pro30 anymore. i'm thinking i might just get the vestax, which is almost as good quality and save about 100 bucks. i'm still not sure what i should do because i tried the smac pro30 and i loved the feel and the sound. do any of you guys have any opinions on what i should do? also post if you think there are any other 3 channel or more mixers for aroudn 400 i should consider.

I was actually just looking that the Ecler's on a website tonite. and talking to my mate about the pcv275.I think personally if you are looking at getting the Eclers brand new compared to a used Vestax I would go for the Ecler's.... and I know the PVC is gonna get supported alot in this thread... But I would personally point you in the direction of the Ecler.. I am really interested in trying the smac 30...

But both are good mixers man.. and you will prolly really be happy with either purchase.. just depends on what you want to spend I guess... and what you feel certain features are worth to you...

Cheers.

No doubt that they're both high quality mixers. But as far as i'm concerned, the mixer is thé most important piece of equipment. You need to know what you need in a mixer. Do you need 100% pure sound quality? Go for the eclers (the pro30 has an s/n ratio of 90Db and the pcv has one of 80Db, witch isn't that good). They both have similar functions.

If I were you, I'd go for the PCV though. why:
-The faders, it has 60mm faders instead of 100mm, okay, personal taste again.
-It's solid, you can feel it when you touch the faders, they're high quality faders.
-it looks cool :p

But there is a negative side on it too, you can't kill an EQ channel with a knob, you need the 'isolators' for that. You can go to +/- 16Db on high, mid and low. -16Db isn't enough to kill. So there is a gap of about 20Db you can't touch (between the -16 and -36 Db). With the ecler you have an eq range of -25/+10 on the mid and -30/+10 on high and low. So we have a wider EQ spectrum. Up to you to decide ;)

I'm usually a big supporter of the vestax PCV275, i have one myself and love it. But you said yourself, you really like the ecler, so there is your answer, go for it!

maybe have a go on a 275 too if you can before deciding.

If you love the feel of the smac, I'd say that's the way to go. In the end it's personal opinion mate.
