it is an effects thingy, and a damn fine one too! theres loads of room behind the mixer if i put the fx unit and mixer in line, then i could be greedy and have 4 decks :toothless

damnit, just remembered.. i have a 3 channel mixer :whip: :whip: looks like i will have to get a djm3000 like ed :p
.Agent_J.
I started with the Soundlab DLP 1600 I think and the worst 2 channel mixer on the planet:o. I've now got technics sl1200 mk2's and a DJM 600 mixer:whip:

Here’s how my setup grew...

My first setup was two Omnitronic BD1030 Beltdrive Turntables, A Numark DM900 Bluedog Scratch Mixer, plus some generic carts I’ve never even heard of to this day, Numark M-1 Monitors and some Altai HS400 headphones. Basically, it was identical to the Numark DJ In a Box Set, but the store I got it from didn’t have any in so threw this together instead. The only difference between the two were the make of the Turntables, which were actually identical to the Numarks but had a different logo. It was a terrible system, but I loved it to pieces and had so much fun with them it was unbelievable. I was genuinely sad when I sold these whilst I was saving up for my DJM600. :(

First upgrade was to get Stanton Carts, from which I still keep my first set of Stanton styli here on my comp desk! (I’m such a sentimentalist lol!) Next upgrade was to get a Numark DM1720x Mixer. It had more channels so I could plug in my Playstation and Computer too. I still have this mixer, for reasons I will explain. After that I upgraded my headphones to Sennheiser HD200’s. Fantastic she of phones, but the cable kept on going with them.

After that came the big one...I finally got Technics 1210 MK3D’s!!! With them came Stanton 505sk Carts. Which I still have on at the mo. Shortly after I got some flight cases for the Techs, which, I have to say, are the most sensible purchase I’ve ever made. After that I got at DJM600, plus a flight case for it. Such a pleasure to use it can’t be legal!

Then my headphones broke down again. The shop where I got them said that the capsules had completely busted and it would take more to get repaired than to buy a new pair. This was in October near my birthday, so I asked and was duly rewarded with some Synthesiser HD25’s! Fantastic headphones for DJ’ing, but not that comfortable for extended wear. Anyway, a few months later I rang up Sennheiser UK HQ and described the problem and got my old pair sorted! I now use these for production and extended use as they are about a 1000x more comfy.

My last, and newest, piece of kit, which I bought 2 months ago was a Numark CDN 22 MKIII. The Reason being was that I want to take something with me to uni so that I can continue to mix, while isn’t a prime target for theviery as 1210’s & 600 would be. That’s why I kept my old DM1720, even though I didn’t need any more.

Next upgrade will be to get elliptical Ortofon Concorde Nightclub’s – which I’m ordering Tuesday! Woo-hoo! :D

Sorry for the essay, lol. :p

2x Gemini Pt-2400
Ortofon OS Pro Silver
Gemini ps626i
Sony 500's (hinge broken so I can't wear them)
Sharp Hi-Fi

That's my first and only set up, got it over two years ago. It's not the best but it does the job nicely :) I'm too broke to get new headphones, but all I know is I'm not gonna buy Sonys again...

Save up hard and get Sennheisers, once you’ve used any pair of them, you never want to use anything else.

i agree. the sonys are all nice and foldy, but my hd280s do that.. the sound quality in sony headfones is a bit imo. way too bassy and muddy.. whereas sennhiesers.. oooo crisp bang bang.

that, plus the fact they cut out 32db of ambient noise, so you will never have to turn them up too loud to hear them in a club/loud bedroom environment. or alternatively, you can wear them as ear protectors if you use a pneumatic drill ;)

many parts are also user replacable :D
