Other singles/compilations en par with this?

This is in regards to James Holden's Balance 005 mix compilation.

I first got this a few months ago, and I'm still listening to it now. Seeing this thread again reminded me of a question I had after I had initially finished listening to it.

So - anyone know of any other compilations and/or singles that are close-to/en-par-with/above-the-quality-of this compilation? I'm looking for more of that dark proggy techy feel showcased in this compilation, although lifeformation was also an incredible track, albeit more uplifting than dark.

i wouldn't call that mix really dark, but its a great compilation non the less
if you want some darkery stuff check out John Digweed's GU 019 Los Angeles
Also if you want a top of the line mix compilation you can't go wrong with the Sasha and Digweed Northern Exposures (1 and 2 are the best i think)

I dunno, I got a generally dark feel from it. I'm familiar with the GU albums, but quite frankly I've listened to them so much I practically have them memorized. NE though, I still haven't gotten around to hearing that.

imo, there is no other album quite like Balance 005.

So, go for live sets, particualry recent ones from Holden, and also from the guys Holden has got under Border Community.

Petter does awesome live sets, but prolly more housey.

Nathan Fake's live set is awesome!

I'm open to anything really, as long as it's good. My musical tastes aren't restricted to any one genre or series of genres, although in this case I think one would be hard-pressed to find country music similar to Balance 005:)

So housey, techy, proggy, trancy, breaks, psychedellic, whatever, it's all good.

Since you mentioned Psy, check out Cosma - Nonstop, last album of the legendary (and late) israeli producer.
