I use them only when I'm spinning. I have cheaper headphones for everything else. And when I store 'em, I don't store 'em in the bag that was included.

I think people break their's because they gorilla-handle 'em when they put it back in the bag.

I'm gentle when it comes to my DJ GEAR.

If you are going to play in clubs I would consider the following:

SENNHEISER HD25 (If you break something you can replace it specifically)
SONY MDR7506 (V6)
PIONEER HDJ1000
TECHNICS RPDJ1210
SONY MDRV700 (And they can last you a while if you treat them right).

These are the headphones that I see on DJs week in week out when I'm working, I see them on big name and warm up DJs alike. If they didn't do the job, no one would use them. As I said earlier I use the SENNHEISER HD25 and have no complaints. I like them for their lightness and their isolation. They do sound pretty good but that makes no difference in the club. When you DJ at home you can lower the quality of the headphones a lot without any real effect other than your own listening pleasure.

You ask a top name DJ that uses each of them and they will all say that they are the best... and contrary to popular belief, few if any DJs are actually sponsored by a headphone company. Although events can be sponsored so that may sometimes make a difference e.g. Tiesto and the Stantons.

Most people tend to shout off about headphones without really thinking about it. They are very personal and you need to be comfortable with the ones you have. A lot of people can also give you a load of technical specs but know f*ck all about them and how they actually perform when you are working.

All of the above mentioned will work for you in that sort of environment. The Sony 700's are the weakest in my mind but only due to durability not sound or overall performance.

just do it. buy some new headphones. it'll be worth it. you'll be pimping. and get the 7506s, cuz if you dont.... you'll always wonder what your missing without that gold plated plug.

7506s @ etronics.com $89

well yes the 900's are the most expensive(of sony's line) and do have the best clarity & drivers but they aren't that great at blocking out competitive noise... thats why on most websites they dont recomend for club DJ's.

As far as I recal both have a gold plated socket. That is a damn good price for them though.
Also the 7505 has a very similar swivel joint to the MDR700. Is the upgrade worth it... in my opinion no. Although Sasha swears by them and a few others I must admit that my own experience with them is not particularly good, all be it some what limited.
