If You Have Shure Whitelabels And You Have Sound Issues...

I just received my new Whitelabels today, and I finally got them installed. First off the sound quality is excellent on these carts, well worth the price, I recommend these to anyone. Now I just wanted to share a little info about the setup and to address a problem some have had with these skipping and distorted sound. I mounted these on 2 Tech's MK5's with a tonearm height of 2mm, stock overhang setting (in the middle) and I started out with 2.5g of tracking force, 0 anti skate. They sounded great off the bat with the 1st vinyl, then I tried another one, and I got crappy sound, and the needle started to skip. I've seen this complaint before on these, so I tried different anti-skate settings with no improvement, and applied heavier tracking force. This actually to my surprise made it worse. So I corrected the problem by REMOVING tracking force weight down to 1.5 and sound quality was perfect, no skipping, and it grips the groove amazingly well with all my tunes...all this with such little weight. So, if you have these needles, and you are experiencing the skipping and distorted sound, try these settings and see how it works for you. I can't believe how well it grips the groove, even when banging on the table, it still would not skip. So give these settings a try 1-1.5g of tracking force, and 0 anti-skate. Oh yea, back cueing and scratching on these settings is working perfectly, and of course vinyl wear is down to nothing with this weight; so there you go Whitelabel users...hope this may help some of you having these problems:toocool:

I'm using mine at 2.75 w/ the same height and same tables... maybe it's too much? Are you using the detachable counter weight on the back of the tonearm?
KiNeTiC ENeRgY
Nope, not using the screw in counter weight on the tonearm...

The Whitelabels have an extremely nice grip on your vinyls so it doesn't really surprise me. I'm using at 1.75 or something and works fine. But I always use very small weights, don't want to ruin the needles to fast just for home usage. The vinyl wear is very very small, it would still be perfect if it wasn't for that damn dust in my room. But can't really change that. Great needles.

How's that possible? I am using both the counterweight and tracking force at 2.75... just tried to change it, and it didn't work at anything below... it kept jumping in a fast reviwd. as i said i have the same tables and height than you! how's this possible?

hmmm...make sure you balanced the tonearm correctly, it works great for me...

I balanced it correctly.

Just realized that i never tried without the counterweight. Maybe it's that?

so you can't get it to balance w/o the counterweight? Or it will balance, but you can't go below 2.75g of tracking?

i got a pair just recently, i havent had any time to try them out yet.

In the manual doesnt it say 2.5mm not 2.0? hmm i might be wrong

Mines are @ 2 for counterwieght and tracking force while anti-skate @ 0 on 1200MKii's.

No problems so far! :)

I'm an idiot! I just realized i've been using 7.75 gr of weight (2,75 + 5 from counterweight) for the past 2 months, but now i tried without the counterweight, and it works perfectly at 1.85!! I've been ruining my records...
