Push style lead sound(?)

Is it possible to create the typical Push synths sound using only VST instruments?
In that case HOW???

| Sure, get a good VST. The Arturia Minimoog seemed to have a bunch of preset in a similar sound to a lot of Push leads. I think that gets released today, so I'd download the demo and play around with it. Atmosphere and Vanguard can do them as well. |

| I want a bass like push...I have a jp8000 I think that what he uses for bass and lead, I could be wrong. If I had the midi of one of his basslines I am sure I could recreate it. Anyone have the midi? |

Honestly I think that in the beginning it's sort of a good idea to try and copy what you like. It can give you some idea of how it's done and then you can create from there. Thats how i learned and still am learning today. You never stop learning and trying push the envelope(filter envelope that is!)It's good to listen to a track and say hey I think I can do that! It's like math...you need the basics to go further.

I think it's more imporant to be able to say "I know how he did that" rather then "I think I can do that" that way you can take what he did and adobt it to your own style.. |

I've been able to get some really good push style leads out of the v-station, which is one of the reasons I fell in luv with it . Back to the topic. The key to a push style lead is the amount of noise you add, the filter and resonance. Also, reverb and a slight chorus is always good. Layer it and you have that full push sound.
There is nothing rong with copying other ppls sounds. If it sounds good, why not use it. I think we are all here to make music that we ourselves like and music that we think others will also. The generic supersaws that are on every hardstyle/hardtrance track (being sarcastic) are there because they sound good and they fit with the style of music. If it was so bad to duplicate a sound then nobody would.
It's cool to be individual and have your own style. Coming up with new innovative sounds is cool. It gets you noticed. Plus it is a way for ppl to recongnize your work. For instance when a person hears the stabby push style synth, the know M.I.K.E. made the tune. Same with flutlicht/shokk. When you hear that lead you know it's them who porduced it. |

| the virus.info tutorial on synth programming teaches you some good generic synth stuff - especially for softsynths where CPU usage is important, maybe have a read of that. |
