Just thought Id post what I've started today.

Sounding quite gud and full, just a bit stuck on a main melody at the moment.

Comments would be appreciated...

I really liked the track apart from the riff, which was cheesier than an old mans sock wrapped in edam :)

Yeah, it is a bit. Come up with it in two minutes. Extremely rushed.

Quite like the build up tho, so may use it for the basis of something else.

How do you think the percussion sounds? Spent a fair bit of time on that.

Are the strings mixing Ok?

Might twist this into a remix of gouyella....:stongue:

I really liked the percussion to be honest, I was going to ask you for tips. As you said in your first post it sounds full - can you give me a break down of whats going on in there? I generally find my tracks lacking in 'fullness' and I know its down to the percussion.

Not that keen on the first 10 seconds of it, the intro bit - but thats just personal preference. It definately has a UK hard NRG slant about it, although its a bit 'slow' for that. The bass line starts off really dark - is it 32nd's or 16ths? It makes the track seem faster. I like the reverse drums in the early transition too, again very hard housey.

The strings sound nice - BUT out of place in the track.

Basically for my percussion there are loads and loads of layers.

The percussion in the intro is a sample I found, with a hi-pass filter run through it.

I added the bongo's after, with a slight reverb added.

Then I added different layers of hi-hat patterns.

The different layers I used where:

1. A closed hi-hat on every 3rd beat of the bar
2. A different closed hi-hat sample on every 1st beat of the bar.
3. A open hi-hat on every 3rd beat of the bar
4. A standard clap on the start of every 2nd beat (used albino for sample, the claps 2 preset)
5. A very high pitched closed hi-hat sample on every 1st & 3rd beat of the bar, accompanied by a slightly higher pitched closed hi-hat sample of 2nd and 4th beat of every bar.
6. I've also got another percussion loop sample in there, which repeats over it self on the 3rd bar.

Not sure if thats gunna make sense, but tried to explain it the best I can.

Basically, I've learned on TA to use LOADS n LOADS of layers. Just play about with the samples you've got, with different patterns. Percussional instruments, such as congos & bongos etc, really help to fill the sound up, as these normally lie around the middle frequencies.

My bassline is 16ths (I think). I can e-mail you a snapshot?
