*bump*

Feedback please!

A few things I noticed:

After the piano in the beginning the kick comes in to hard

the gate on the main melody right before the kick comes in with it sounds dumb..

what do you guys think?

Sometimes parts of the sounds get to high. And the snarekicks sounds different and doesn't really fit in, maybe brighten them up or something?
The melody was nice, and this track has quite some energy. :)
Maybe you should strenghten the strings and add some low-leveled background sounds so that it gets a more 'thick' sound.

It's a good track and I like it! :) keep it up.

do you mean to much treble or that the actual note is to high in pitch? Can you give a time the time in the track that you're referring to?

I'll keep that in mind.. the only strings were some symphonic ones in the beginning and the saw pad throughout the song.. I'll give it some eqing to beefen up the mid range bass becuase it seems to lack there on my analyzers..

more feedback is needed from anyone! :)

around 00:52... just realized it was because of the settings in my mp3 player...had the high frequences too loud ;) doesn't really sound too high now :)

Thanks for your feedback M1cro5lave!

I was thinking that it perhaps had to much treble (the entire track)
did you notice that?

also, in the main melody, the note that is on the down beat (the one that stays constant with the tonic of the progression) seems to be to quiet.. I was thinking of reversing the two or making the note that plays during the down beat (where the kick is) louder..

I would like feedback from more then one person, this is a quality track (at least I think it is) so take the time to listen to give feedback on it! :p

Okay, first of all, I think that some of the transitions are a little too abrupt, like all of a sudden, the lead comes in and then everything stops. Little reverse crashes and stuff can do wonders to help ease the transition. With the lead at the begining, try bringing it in with the filters (Cutoff and decay/sustain) to make it ease into the track a little more. Also try experimenting with some percussion builds, they can be useful at times.

Melody reminds me of the old hard trance era, back when it was good that is.

Bassline is a little weak, I can't really feel/hear it over the rest of the track.

I'm kinda starting to dig the meldoy and lead towards the end of the song. It is a little bit simple but still quite catchy. The piano sounds at the beginning are really nice though, and the strings are good too (Atmosphere?).

In all, I think your track was pretty cool, but there are just a couple of areas that could benefit from improvement. also, have you tried putting a little reverb and delay on the lead to make it a bit fuller?

I agree with pretty much everything cheggy said, hehe. Not bad, but could use some work still. Bassline needs to be a lot more noticeable, and there could be more going on in the background. As it stands, there's a lead, a bassline, a kick, a few minimal percussions, and... that's all you can really hear. Throw some counter melodies in there and some synth type effects. The lead kinda reminds me of the one from Picotto - New Time New Place, even though this song is absolutely nothing like that one, hehe.

I spent all day yesterday "perfecting the mix" - I fixed the dead spot before the lead comes in with the kick.. made the bass and the pad louder.. fixed the transitions and fixed the EQ as well.. I'll try to get it up here later today..

thanks for the feedback! I'm seeing cheggy's and sean's feedback after "perfecting the mix" but I basically fixed the same things you guys commented on..

here is the new version of it after 12 hours of "perfecting the mix"

I honestly don't think it can sound any better, but I'm probably wrong :)

what do you guys think? feedback on this new one vs. the original please!

Okay mate, I'm listening to the new version, although its hard to compare because I can't save the mp3s, only stream them, so its difficult to see the differences. I think the bass might be better in this new version from memory, it was a little weak before. Definitely sounds a lot fuller in general which is good.

also, I know this will sound like a weird request, well its not really a request, but here goes. During the breakdown, I was hearing the melody and because there is no kick, I used my judgment to decide when the phrase starts. Anyway, I got it wrong and it sounded a bit wierd when the kick came in. Have yoy thought about moving the melody (the one that starts at about 1/3 of the way through the song with the sharp lead during the breakdown) forward 1/8 note so that the hinote of the lead falls between the kicks rather than on it. Just an option, it might also work with that arp lead later on.

Anyway, sounds better. It has a rich feel to it now. It nice to see people actually take suggestions into action rather than ignoring them as many do. Nice work.

the first version was like that.. with the melodic note on the downbeat (kick) it sounds MUCH better and a lot more driving...

one of the most noticable changes between the two was the difference in EQing.. the first one had way to much treble and not enough mid..

also, I'm working on a hard trance track that you might like (uses the 303 a lot).. I'll let you know when it's done (a week or 2)
