Ok for Halion in cubase I loaded a kick into the program, routed it to the midi track and put the beats on the drum editor... now lets say I want to load another sample into Halion, when I set the output to "3-4" for the 2nd sample and it switches the track for cubase to the 2nd output track for Halion... does that mean that I haveto make another midi track for the "3-4 output" and use a new drum editing window for that 2nd different sample? Or is there a way to do all my percussion into ONE drum editing window so I can see what's going on with all the different elements....?
Is there an easier way to do this, a better way, more efficient way? Or any other programs that would be better... |

ive used halion a few times, if im reading you clearly, your using several instances of halion for each drum sample??!
this is what i do, goto options in halion, import audio file, import the kick..
make sure you set it to the key u want, eg C1
then import hat, set it to d1 or whatever.. keep doing that till whenever, it will load all samples and rout them to each key...
i hope that helps.. |

If they are on the same midi channel, then you do not have to have a seperate midi track. Just map the sounds to key ranges. Then on the same midi track, you can do all your percussion.
You can not send stuff on the same midi channel out to different audio outputs (i'm pretty sure at least, I'm not on my computer at the moment).
If you want to send different samples out different audio channels, then you will have to change the midi channel for the instrument.
For example, on your midi track, output is set to Halion and channel is set to 1. You load up a kick. The kick (channel 1) is run out audio out 1-2 (stereo channel). You can then load other sounds in and they will go out to audio 1-2.
Create a new midi track and set output to Halion, midi channel to 2. In Halion, select channel 2, change output to 3-4. Load in a sample (snare for example). Now in the mixer window, the snare will come up on a different channel to the kick so that you can put different fx on it, set different levels, etc.
If you want to have everything in the same "drum editing window" as you call it (I assume you mean the key editor/piano roll), then you need to have all your samples on the same midi channel which means you have to have everything coming out the same audio channel.
Hope that helps. |
