As for the set being boring, then it must be the fact that you simply don't like their type of music. |
I think we have a winner.
personally I think their productions kick ass. But hey, not everyone is gonna like every producer/track/dj. |

lets see tiesto do that up on stage
being a "REAL" DJ doesn't mean you only spin on turntables.
a DJ plays music to entertain the crowd and show them a good time. it doesn't matter what medium he/she uses aslong as they can use that medium to keep the vibe alive or bring it up. |
I could'nt agree more!!! A "REAL" dj isn't about what they use! And for them being boring....how many times have you seen them??? If you have gone and paid attention, you will see that they REALLY get the place going. Why don't you just say that you don't like their style of music? You don't make a real good critique since you obvously have'nt done you researh ie: you don't know what G&D really do when they perform. I suggest knowing what you are talking about before posting on a site like this.
G&D KICK ASS!!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: |

apparantly this guy does not know what he is talking about, he does'nt even know what you do. LOL you've seen the crowd. That would be the best indicator of how REAL fans feel ;) |

| Ok, I don't care what anyone says. A DJ in my eyes, and probably in many others as well, is using the "classic," if you will, turntables and mixer. There is nothing more exciting then mixing two vinyls together flawlessly. I'm sure it takes some skill to remica song live, but you're still looking at a screen clicking this, clicking that. I would definitely say that you are not Djing if your using a laptop. Man, thats not how its supposed to be done. |

Final Scratch still incorporates the turntables and "vinyls" just it plays the MP3 through the vinyl....
aw hell, just google it. |

I totally understand your views on people DJing the old fashion, but it kinda irritates a lot of us when people rip when people DJ using new technology without really understanding it or simply giving props to the technology for making it easier to bring quality sets to music lovers who go to clubs....
As for me, I'll be right at 1015 on March 19 to see G&D again. I had an f'in kick ass time last time I was there, even though I was totally messed up....heheheh (Dave probably knows what I mean -- lol :p)....I don't love G&D just for the music, but the appreciation they show to their fans. Hell, they even handle their mailing list themselves and not through some promotor or agency like many big or upcoming acts do. It's not often that people become big and still do what they can to show their appreciation despite their overgrowing schedule....and it's one of the reasons their fanbase is continuously exploding.
Not to sound like a big head, but I don't know anyone in the bay area who goes around talking about them so much and how everyone should go listen to them more than me...I'm the same way with Markus Schulz out here too...I literally like lead a fanclub of his - and I am so glad he is playing with Armin here in April (although Spundae has told me straight up that's not for sure as they haven't heard anything about it themselves directly as of Feb 20)...but at the same time, I feel I am one of their biggest critics....issue is, there's not much to criticize about them when you look deep down into who they are and what they are trying to be...I feel kinda dorky as I'm 25 and still going ga-ga over this and new talent as they get exposure and act like a teenager sometimes (hence my shameless promotion as a Non-Profit Promoter or sometimes a Freaky Fanboy Promoter), but you know what...I love it all and I enjoy doing it. So a dork I am and a dork I shall be -- which I don't care, because it just helps give this scene better exposure and my GF loves it about me :P
So to Josh and Dave...cheers to you for the duo you are...to everyone else who has issues with them or us enjoying them, then oh ing well. Get over it and off. Don't ruin our fun just because you can't have fun, too.
Have an issue or praise, then AIM me: DaToole -- not worth talking about it much here.
And Dave (Dresden), if you read this please play the full vocal mix of Peaches - the Pain Away (AD Remix) on March 19...it's a SICK remix! And yes, you were right about the Above & Beyond remix...it's the ! I know I know...requesting tracks is a no-no...but thought I'd try!
Thank you.

| AH i love to be controversial :) I actually liked their set, it was ing good for house, and i usually hate house. I really wanted to see what people would say, see if anyone would agree with me on them not spinning on vinyl, and whether or not it mattered, apparently noone cares so i guess i have to catch up. I loved both sets, i thought it was cool as that tiesto just came up and started his set from whatever song was already playing, that was pretty cool. No disrespect intented to be sure, G&D are DEFINITELY fan oriented, and i think thats ing awesome. I didnt mean to sound so bitter either, anyone but tiesto would get a bad review from me, small wonder im not a critic :gsmile: I think its great so many people stepped up and defended them, without name calling or any BS, i was flat out wrong about how they use the laptop and all, and im glad someone pointed that out. I'll leave with that :) |

I saw them live, or so youd call it, when i saw tiesto, last mmm november i think at mezzanine. They played, if you call it playing, on a laptop the whole time, they dont do ! Nice guys, i met them both, but come on, any geek can sit there and click a ing mouse. Tiesto had to remove all their crap so he could spin on some decks like a REAL dj. Also, their set was SO boring, G&D remix, G&D remix. Just mixing song to song, no real purpose, nothing i pay to see. They played ATCR twice in 2 hours. I just dont get why theyre hot all of a sudden, being a decent producer doesnt mean your for a dj, as they convincingly prove. |
Sorry, a little late to this thread... but WTF ARE YOU SMOKING BRO???????????? Do u know how much harder it is to perform a LIVE set, rather than to just "mix" like Tiesto does? |
