ROTK was by FAAAAR the worst of the trilogy.... not only did they omit the scouring of the shire, the had about 1000 Frodo & Sam money shots.. we get it, they have a strong bond... the great brotherhood... blah blah...

Why did they sweep the effects category.. it's the same effects they've been doing for three movies now... which they were already rewarded for...pffft

Notice how the cast wasn't even nominated for any acting categories... got to wonder if all the snubs in the previous awards when they WERE deserving were simply being awarded last night.

Good thing I didn't watch the stupid Oscars.

Lord of the Rings????? WHAT????
when I was watching that crap in the theatre I went to the washroom twice, bought popcord, went for a smoke, and even slept for 20-30 minutes.... And it was still not oever. WTF?
It's the most boring movie ever. Personally I don't care THAT much about the effects.

Ohh and Monster.. Well, I actually took a date to that one.... Did I succeed? Hell, the only reason why I didn't get layed that night was because of that ing movie! I felt like punching out the ticket guy who recommended it to us. :toothless Yuck! What a disgusting film.. Ohh about Charlize Theron's acting - well personally I think that any church street $30 hooker can do no worse (if those are even around). You definetely don't need to uglify a model/ballerina from South Africa and then give her an oscar for that role. :(

And another thing, was I the only one annoyed by the whimpy hobbits' crying all the time?

Seems like Oscar is degrading every year. It's just unbelievable how bad it could get. Lord Of The ing RIngs.... THe first part was OK,but the third part was the worst, yet everyone knew that it's gonna get the award, just because the time has come for LOTR.

It's ok when garbage like Titanic, A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator win Best Picture, but not ok when LOTR wins?

I personally felt the first film was the best of the trilogy as it captured the feel of Tolkien the best. The Two Towers was the worst of the three.

I find it interesting that people who like the last one the least have never read the books. But hey...I'm not surprised so many of you are bashing it...it's the "cool thing" around here to bash things that please the majority of people.

I think it was more than that.

:D :D :D

it sure was boring... just goes out to prove you that some books should never be made into movies.

you people DO realise that these movies have pulled in almost 3 billion dollars world wide in total, making them the most popular saga ever released...much more popular than star wars, the matrix, star trek..you name it. All three of them are in the Internet Movie Database's Top 10 films of all time.

The book was voted Book of the Century numerous times in the 1990's and has consistently been ranked as the most popular and most widely purchased book after the BIBLE.

Just because you guys don't like them doesn't mean you have to take a on them. We respect that you're in the minority.

Actually.. Harry Potter has surpassed LoTR in sales.. sadly.. everything else is true tho. I read the book.. thoroughly enjoyed it.. but i thought the movies were lacking.

Dude, your such an idiot, insinuating tons of things not even posted here. No one has stated they haven't read the books, and as for it being the 'cool thing" to bash it, I wasn't aware it was neccessary to agree with you that it was deserving.. considering the $$$$ it pulled in, and the awards and acclaim, wouldn't the popular thing be to lay more conformity-esque praise upon the film?

As a representative of Tolkien I'd agree Two Towers was the worst, but it was the best FILM out of the three for cinematography, pace, and acting (Fellowship was a snails pace with lots of cheese, but I still loved it). The only reason it lacked the Tolkien feel is they rammed most of TTT in the bloated piece of hollywood junk that was ROTK... it was simply TOO MUCH MOVIE.

As for reading the books, I hadn't read them in HS, saw Fellowship, thought it was ok but slow, read the books, loved them, and started HATING the movies for the amount of change lol. the biggest sacrilege committed had to be omitting the ENTIRE ENDING FROM ROTK.
Honestly, who the erases the end of a book?
