Ok so im graduating this year and im going to a 2 year college to get my AA degree, the main reason I'm going to a 2 year college to begin with is because I have no idea wtf I wana do yet... but what I DO KNOW is....
That I love music and have a passion for it and if there were a field in music which would gurantee you success if you were to goto school for an "x" period amount of time then i'd be first in line for it.. (such as medical school to become an MD or whatever)....
So as i'm not going to solely base my EDUCATION upon music, just because I think 90% is in the talent and the other 10% is the knowledge that one has of music... the only other interests I have are computers/media/entertainment/production/photography/graphics.... something along those subjects..
But just to get a broad array of decision's when I finish or attempt to go for my education, im thinking of majoring in business and having a MINOR in music just because I like it, good idea or bad?
I'm sure there are alot of people who are in my position or who have already gone threw this stage, what the hell would you guys recommend cuz this it's really starting to get on my nerves!
Let's here some advice/experiences/regrets!:eyespop:  |

You would have to be more specific...there's a lot of fields in music. For example, you could be a sound engineer in a studio...which seems like a pretty cool job to me but not if you hate rock music and such since that's the music you would be recording most likely.
The best thing IMO is that you find a job that you like but do music in your spare time. This could include producing, playing an instrument, DJing, etc. There really aren't too many good careers in music that I can think of. Like you could promote EDM events and such but that doesn't make you much money...it's not really a career.
What you're doing I think is the correct choice. I'm majoring in business now too and I'm not really sure what I wanna do either. Then again, not many people know until they're 1/2 way through college. |
