| i went to the local dj store today to see if "ferry corsten- right of way" vinyl was available. the salesperson didnt know what it was, which is fine. so i ask him to call the manager of the place. so the manger comes and talks to me. the manager said he's gonna search for it on the computer. so the next thing you know he didnt know how to spell the name of ferry correctly, and he tells me the vinyl doesnt exist.:o :o so then neways i asked him how did he spell the name, he said "fairy corTsen".:stongue: hahaha. well neways i told him to correct it, nd he then found the details of the vinyl on his computer. it wasnt available at this time, so i had to place a special order. :whip: yeh so thats the end of my story.:) |

yeah, retail employees can be really stupid. i went into guitar center the other day to play around with the new mixer I'm getting. I asked the guy if he heard anything about when the new Tech CDJs would be in. teh guy looked at me like I was ing nuts. Seriously, i think I know more than any of those guys, and all my info comes from the forums. I guess TAs are just smart like that.
Dont even get me started on the employees at the record store. I went in the other day and asked him if they got any hot new trance in. he hands me ATRC and PvD Time of our lives. I've had both of these records for MONTHS. not exactly what i would call the new hotness.
I guess its just hard to find good help these days. lol |

| true, but go on a day where the experts have to be there (ie. wed in US is when vinyl shipment comes in, so usually thats a good day to get info, and weekends @ guitar center cause thats when people have the most time to go). When i was choosing production software i found a guy at guitar center that knew way more than me... i was shocked. |

that'd be sweet to get a job at these places.....not so that someone there would know something....rather I like doing nother and acting stupid.
hehe, my guess is that the employees you came in contact with have no passion for the music or gear, therefore don't really care. I guess i relate it to me working at bath and body works...."Yeah they all smell nice so take one and buy it". |

im gonan collect vinyl this summer and most of the time im gonan shop in toronto. i have to loook up some record shops. nd i agree wit u, but toronto not only has the best record stores, but is the best place in canada. :D |

Not saying that the guy didn't know his stuff but ease up on retail employee's a little bit. I work retail and its hard and not fun, and I pride myself on my knowledge and I know some people are not as knowledgable as me at work, but seriously people can't be perfect yes its our job to know stuff but don't flip out when we don't know everything. Rant Over
If your looking to find someone knowledgeable go in on the weekends thats when the best people work because theres more traffic. Plus ask a couple questions and if the sales person doesn't give you answers that satisfy you then talk to someone else. |
