the first ones depict a ritual, obviously, the wounds are self inflicted.
the second are stigmatas or "signs" of the presence of god, not supposed to be self-inflicted.
on a side note, the woman on the second set of pictures came some years ago to the church were I go and some freaky happened to her with hundreds of witnesses around.:conf: |

I don't believe in them too... but there's a difference between a massive crowd who does it and a single person faking it. |

Different strokes (or lashes of a blade) for different folks.
If people want to go about doing that sort of thing to themselves I have no objection to it. It's no different from drug taking, or masturbating 20 times a day. |

i dont agree when it comes to children and babies been subjegated to the same situation. that is not responsible at all. maybe i have a sore spot for the young tikes. i mean those wounds could get infected and even cause death to little children, just imagine the trauma. i could care less if the grown-ups do it, after all they are only hurting themselves, but i still think its sick and would call them barabaric |
