| i think the best thing one could do if a climate disaster occured is moving into a mountain. Its elevated to protect you from the water and its built like a fortress. |

From a meteorological stand point..
Something like this can happen and it will. It is just that the occurence of such a chaotic event is so remotely rare that we need'nt worry about it in our lifetimes.
But as for a tsunami of that magnitude to hit NY.... that isnt very plausible. But the west coast is another story. The mid atlantic ridge is a divergent plate boundry.... (the plates just push away from each other as new crust is formed) but along the pacific ring of fire, much of that region is of the convergent plate boundry. One section of the crust pushes against another and falls beneath.
This picture shows much of the movement associated with different sections along our west coast. A tsunami is a sea wave of local or distant origin that results from large-scale seafloor displacements associated with large earthquakes, major submarine slides, or exploding volcanic islands.... all of which the atlantic ocean lacks |

tbh the movie looks sorta cheesy. As usual they exaggerate like crazy.
ex. 3 twisters happening at once in 2 square km radius while a tsunami hits the coast right next to it, while an insane thunderstorm hits, etc. etc. |

| I know it seems bizare to see twisters rampaging around all of california, But there have been known instantes of weather shifting to other parts of the country. |

I was thinking the same...
It's like "omfg nothing could ever be worse than this"
*cue meteor to hit earth*
"omfg now we're really ed"
*cue earthquakes* |

Oh joy, another movie about NYC being destroyed. How ing original
What is this, number 10 billion?
Aren't you people tired of seeing that city being blown up yet? I mean, it actually got ing blown up (to some extent) in real life. Wasn't that horrible enough? You should be mad at this movie out of respect of something that actually happened, if not only for it being a hackneyed stupid special effects moron-athon. |

I understand your concern, But keep in mind, This is only a movie, NY is not the only scenes you see in the movie being destroyed, But also LA gets trashed as well. |

And somehow I am not surprised it is from the director of Independance Day...b/c gee...that happened in ID too didn't it!
Haven't we moved beyond big-budget "disaster" movies yet people? The only thing that separates them from ty straight-to-video B-movies is that somehow they scored the backing of a major studio that threw lots of $$$ into it. What a waste. It doesn't suprise me that a dolt like Bush is president when so many people continue to indulge in this kind of tripe. |

| I you know what, I dont really care, Let them make all the disaster movies they want, I will continue to watch them for as long as I live cause, I see them as entertaiment, I never like bringing rl into the movies, Cause movies were ment for escapism, To get away from RL. |

| I go to movies to see blow-up, not get intellectually stimulated. That's what books are for. If you don't like those types of movies, that's entirely up to you. I loved ID and I'm definitely going to see this. Chalk me up as someone who "indulges in this kind of tripe", therefore I must be inferior to people of your caliber. ;) |
