Im sure many of you have heard the song The Silence 2000 (DJ Tiesto) by Delerium. The song concludes the new Oakenfold cd and is found everywhere now. This song is truly a jewel that will become a classic.
But lets put our imaginations to work. The Silence was first a sort of dark, gothic song with beautiful lyrics, not exactly trance music. What songs out there from any genre do you think could become amazing trance tunes that would take you away. Taking a non-trance song and turning it into a trance dream, truly takes the work of a great mind. Lets hear what you guys think. Here are a few songs that I think could become amazing trance tunes.

4) NIN - Perfect Drug
3) Pink Floyd - High Hopes
2) Cure - Burn
1) Rhea's Obsession - Momento Mori

1) Depeche Mode - Policy of truth
2) Ozzy Osbourne - Centre of enternity (hehe)
3) Dead or alive - You spin me around
4) Mr Mister - Broken wings
That's what I managed to come up whit at the moment.

| I dont really have a suggestion for a song that could be turned into trance, but there is one old song that i still listen to which i think sounds great in original (rock) version and even better when remixed by oakie, the song is Mansun - Wide Open Space (perfecto mix), i just LOVE the vocals on this song. |

Interesting topic  . I have seen a Cranberries clip about a year ago. Unfortunately I can't remember the title but there was a ghost flying over a town in the clip. This song would be a real good trance track. I have heard some Hungarian common pop songs too with great melodies. Maybe someone convert them into goa trance...

I actually have a house remake of that Cranberries song. It's quite old, but sounded pretty good back then. Hmmm... as to what would make a good trance song now... let's see...
Firefly - Delerium - obvious choice... the vocals are good... the music just needs to be reworked. Hell, there might even be one that I don't know about.
People Hold On - Lisa Stansfield - hauntingly beautiful vocals... another obvious choice.
Take On Me - A-Ha - nice vocals, but it can be speeded up a bit.
Dreamlover - Mariah Carey - say what you want... the lyrics to this song are strong enough to send small children and helpless senior citizens into epileptic seizures. I think the vocals are that good!
Well, that's my 2 cents. Do what you want with it.

Tripsy, try this : Intrance - Take On Me! A nice classic from 94 or 95.
What about The Connels - 74-75? It also has great vocals!

| I think Firefly by Delerium is an excellent idea. In fact I think just about every song by Delerium could become an amazing trance tune. What about Cranberries - Zombie with a progressive build up towards the end. |

| Call me crazy, but I think the Miami Vice theme could be thrown in a mix. Sounds trance-ish enough. |

1) Depeche Mode - Kaliede
2) Theme from 'Babylon 5 season 1 (don't laugh just listen)
3) Depeche Mode - Agent Orange
4) Beethoven - Moonlight sonata

YEZy - Hey thanks for the suggestion, i'll be sure to check it out. Here's a few more I thought up over the weekend.
I believe i can fly - R Kelly. Nice vocals... great segueways can be established for those kick ass drum rolls.
Fur Elise - Beethoven - pure classic... it works on so many levels.
Canon in B major - Pachelbel - THE WORLD'S FIRST TRANCE SONG EVER!!!!!! The strings just take you away, and the breaks in it can add to the build ups. For lack of a better word... it's perfect.
