Hey, does anyone own any snakes at all?

Just wanted to ask a couple of questions on them. Where's the best place to get one, other than a pet store ( i heard pj's and other pet stores have e animals, that are not too healthy). I was thinking of getting something along the lines of a boa contrictor or a reticular python (agressive mofo's :D ).

tsk tsk tsk

ur parents are seriously letting u?
i can guarantee u shelter for a week minus the snake :p... that's incase ur parents kick u out. u would have to survive on our limitless supply of canned f0ol and pita bread. U can have falafal only once a week :p... oh yea, u sleep in the basement :p

Good choice for a snake, I don't know much about them either, my roommate has 2 (Red-Tailed Boa & Python) Just look up reptile stores, most normal pet-stores don't carry exotic reptiles such as pythons, boas, etc.

Well i'm more interested, in boa constrictors in general. Just wanted to know, the habitat i would have to create for them (i.e. the size of their container, the level of humidity (well i'm assuming quite humid since most species are located in the jungle), every how long on average i should feed them.) basically things like that. :D

Cheers.

Oh and if I decide to leave on holiday for a few days or a couple of weeks...what steps can i take to make sure it's fed and taken care of.
Mr. Sketchy
Snakes are great pets i have a jungle carpet python and an irain jaya carpet python ( babies are on the way!). I have been into herps all my life. If you have any questions i can deff help.

however dont get a snake if you cant spend lot of cash... cage lights, food, vet- it adds up quick. also dont get one unless you have about 30 years to commit because they live a long time.

and dont get a reticulated python the grow to 25-30 feet and about 250lbs ( i dont know the metric totals) my friend has one and we have to feed it goats!

again feel free to ask any questions, and if you need any info check out www.kingsnake.com they have all the info you should need

jeff

also my snakes have gone 9 month with out eating before so food and going away are not a problem. and you can buy a timer for a few bucks so the lights and heat will work with out you when you go away.

and dont get a snake from a pet shop they are wild born and caught usually, get one from a breeder who handles them. there is a big difference between a pet snake who likes people and a wild animal that wants to kill you. think dog vs wolf for example.
